Platte River Fitness Series Community Health Initiative The Platte River Fitness Series is a unique community fitness initiative that motivates and inspires

The Platte River Fitness Series (PRFS) is a community fitness initiative. It links people who are trying to create or maintain an active, healthy lifestyle with each other. The PRFS offers ample and diverse fitness events to give individuals tangible goals to work toward as they achieve and advance physical fitness and an infectious zest for life. The PRFS focus is on participation, and uses a poi

nts system to reward reaching the start and finish lines, to accept new challenges, and to improve performance which reflects gains in overall fitness. In addition, participants receive recognition for completing the complete year-long series. The PRFS is devoted to the idea that one person helps one person who in turn helps another, to find the profound value in living life in a truly healthful way. In community, the athletes of the PRFS support, encourage and compete with members of the PRFS "fitness family", and together create a community culture that reflects fitness, good health, and embraces all aspects of human wellness.

Summer is here and so is a brand new StoryWalk story! StoryWalk, along Buffalo Bill Trail from just south of Leota to Walker Rd encourages families to get active together and makes walking or biking more fun as you read the story together! This edition is a charming story of Daniel and his grandpa as they explore the amazing discoveries on a simple walk in the park. Selected by children's librarian Anne Price, enjoy the beauty to be found in "What's New Daniel?" by Micha Archer! StoryWalk is brought to you by the Platte River Fitness Series, West Central District Health Dept., the City of North Platte, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, NebraskaLand Bank, the North Platte Trails Network, and the North Platte Public Library.

The Heroes March Ruck and Run is a moving tribute to our service men and women and a true testament to the devotion of our athletes to honor that service by doing something hard. The American Legion is essential in supporting our veterans and they put on a truly memorable event by reminding all of us when someone is struggling to “Be The One” to offer love and support.
