South Carolina Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program returns on June 1.

South Carolina Department of Social Services has announced the return of the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) on June 1. The popular program gives eligible senior citizens $50 in the form of five $10 paper checks to spend on food at participating authorized locations.

This seasonal grant program from the USDA allows qualified individuals to purchase unprocessed fruits and vegetables from authorized farmers’ markets, roadside stands, and authorized mobile markets.

To qualify, SC residents must be age 60 or older,

have a yearly income of $28,953 or less ($39,128 for a household of two),

report their household size (jointly or separately),

and have a legal form of identification.

Orangeburg County residents may apply from 9 a.m.-noon, June 8-12 at the following locations:

Orangeburg Cty. Aging 2570 St. Matthews Rd. NE Orangeburg

Vance Senior Center 10304 Old #6 Highway Vance

Branchville Council/ Aging 101 Caboose Ct. Branchville
