Beautiful evening kayak with a mature and a juvenile bald eagle sighting.
They were making lots of shrieky calls and flying around the island where they nest.❤️

Also the last of the water lilies blooming. Spiked water milfoil also blooming with their spiky little flowers poking out above the water and a lovely swan sighting.

Glad to get out for sunset to enjoy these warm evenings while we can!

Bright flowers blooming as the days get shorter.

The dahlias are so cheerful!
Last year‘s bulbs wasted away and turned to dust in the basement over the winter so this spring Jill Bezzant hooked me up with some lovely new varieties that I’m going to do my best to keep alive for next year.

I can not believe the cuteness of the yellow and red one!
And that lush pink fuzzy one. Yum!

And morning glories everywhere that hide the fact that most of the garden is done blooming for the year.
I appreciate that they climb all over everything and look divinely beautiful in sun or rain. ❤️

Sooo many mushrooms on my walk.
The mosquitos were so aggressive that I only stopped for the really stunning ones.
(The mosquitos would cloud and buzz around me whenever I stopped!)

I sort of love just enjoying mushrooms and not having any idea which is which/ who is who. They are so varied and complex my brain hasn’t taken on the massive task getting to know their names and types and that is sort of freeing because I’m always trying to pin down the birds and the plants.

It feels nice to have an enormous portion of life in the forest remain a mystery that I am appreciating but skirting around their tremendous complexity and variety and just enjoying their cute shapes and how they emerge from the leaf litter.

Almost full moon rising over the hills tonight as our lovely book group ended!
Beautiful!!
The clouds closed in overhead as the night went on but what a beautiful glimpse.

I stayed up and hoped to see the red moon during the eclipse but the clouds are thick.
But, as we know the moon is still there and the earth is still moving between the moon the light of the sun even though I can’t see it tonight.

I did some journaling and some clearing work to release things I am ready to release and I am grateful ✨ but ready for bed. ❤️

May the lunar eclipse help you let go of what you are ready to be done with.

Late summer.
Everything is moving so fast.
The days are so much shorter and the nights are getting chilly.
Part of me is so ready for fall and not being hot all the time, but the other part of me is mourning and grasping at the beauty of this late summertime wherever I see it!

The ripening Elderberries. I swear they were just blooming white flowers announcing summer!

And the apples in the trees; such a bumper crop this year, but I feel like I was just smelling their flowers and now those blossoms are sturdy shiny fruit weighing down the branches.

So many peaches this year. They look so pretty cut up for my crumble.

The Asian pears are probably ready to pick. I need to get out there before branches break!

And my sweet dahlia bed is blooming with new varieties that I LOVE! Thank you Jill Bezzant - that yellow and red one makes me so happy. ❤️

The waxing moon was growing in the evening sky as I made my way home from work last night.
I stopped to say hi to the rising moon and was surrounded by cricket and katydid song. ❤️

The full moon is on Friday! But first there is a partial lunar eclipse that we can see after 10pm on Thursday night!

Hoping for some clear skies but even if it’s cloudy the eclipse will still be happening.

Eclipses are concentrated times of transition and you can really lean into that energy; release what feels like a heavy anchor holding us back and replace it with something beautiful and nourishing in your life.

Sunset and crescent moon set at the glorious bird sanctuary on the water.

The views were spectacular and the sound of the constant coming and going of the waves was deeply soothing. We wandered around, climbing on the stones and sand until dark.

We stayed at a Franciscan Guesthouse affiliated with a monastery. There are some lovely shrines on the campus and a fragment from the shrine of mother Mary from Lourdes where people go to be healed in France.

The rooms were regular hotel rooms in a pretty little compound but the grounds were really special- gardens and lots of beehives.

The lawns were filled with flowering thyme and buzzing honeybees in the fields and wooden shrines in the woods.

People were friendly and it was a great location near the beaches and town; a lovely little getaway from the busy streets and beaches.
