The Children's Heart Foundation was founded in 1996 and is the country's leading organization solely dedicated to funding congenital heart defect (CHD) research. Our vision is a world in which everyone born with a congenital heart defect has the chance to live a long, healthy life, and that eventually, CHDs will be eradicated altogether. That's why we are dedicated to funding research to advance t

he diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs. With the help of our volunteers and supporters, we are making great progress. Since The Children's Heart Foundation began funding CHD research more than 25 years ago, survival rates, longevity, and quality of life have dramatically improved for CHD patients. Because of this, The Children's Heart Foundation has added important research focus on developmental, transitional, and long term care needs affecting the millions of Americans with CHDs who now live longer lives. The research we fund positively impacts all CHD patients.

Meet Isaac! ❤ Isaac and his family walk for CHD research with us at the Chicago Congenital Heart Walk.

"Isaac is a little boy who loves to walk, run, climb, play and get himself into all sorts of mischief! Isaac has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome ( ), a significant heart defect in which the left side of his heart is very small. As an infant he had two open heart surgeries to help reroute blood flow through the heart, and had his third in the spring of 2025.

These surgeries are vital as they help prolong Isaac's life, but do not solve the issue that he only has half of a working heart. This is where supporting CHD research comes into play- we will ALWAYS be waiting for new strategies and technologies to come along that will help give Isaac the best chance at enjoying a full, happy and healthy life. During his second heart surgery, Isaac was a participant in a stem cell trial for HLHS babies. The initial funding for this research trial was through the support of The Children's Heart Foundation! We are so grateful for the opportunity Isaac had to participate in the trial and hope that its findings help Isaac and other heart warriors and families for years to come!"

The Children’s Heart Foundation was honored to join fellow organizations in sharing with members of Congress the urgent need for increased investment in congenital heart defect (CHD) research and care. We were proud to stand alongside so many passionate advocates working to create a brighter future for individuals and families impacted by CHDs. ❤

We're grateful to Every 100th Heart for leading this important effort during their first annual National CHD Advocacy Summit. It was an incredible experience and we were glad to be a part of it.
