September is National Service Dog Month!🐾

All month long, we’re celebrating the incredible dogs, people, volunteers, and partnerships that make independence possible.

So, what does the mobility service dog actually do?

These highly trained dogs can perform tasks such as retrieving dropped objects, opening and closing doors, turning lights on and off, and much more. For someone living with a mobility-limiting disability, those skills can help remove everyday barriers and create greater independence.

And at Canine Partners of the Rockies, the partnership doesn’t end at placement. We provide ongoing support throughout the lifetime of our Colorado-based mobility service dog partnerships.

🐾Bluey is headed back to Mile High Living!

Huge congratulations to Colfax, Larimer, Franklin, Holly, Pearl, and Pecos on moving up to advanced training! 🎓✨

These dogs will now start working more closely with our trainers to learn the specific tasks they will need in order to be successful service and facility dogs!

Thank you to their puppy raisers who have poured their time, love, and patience into getting these pups one step closer to changing someone’s life.💙

As National Assistance Dog week comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for all the incredible assistance dogs who do so much for us. We are also so grateful for every volunteer, puppy raiser, puppy sitter, and dogs who make this work possible. But the work doesn’t stop and neither does the celebration!

It’s National Assistance Dog Week! This week we celebrate the incredible dogs who do so much for us! Dogs can do so many wonderful things to assist humans in so many different ways.

Here at Canine Partners of the Rockies we train mobility and facility dogs. Our mobility dogs are trained to do tasks such as pick up dropped items, open and close doors, and help with laundry. Our facility dogs are trained to help with emotional regulation and provide comfort and support to those around them.

To every assistance dog out there (and all the future ones) thank you for your patience, loyalty, and the work you do every day to impact the lives of those around you. 🐾💙
