Use it or lose it!
It's not too late to start your yoga practice if you haven't already.
And if you have, good for you! Keep it up! Go to classes often, as many times a week as you can. You will notice improvements more rapidly that way, and you will feel great.
You probably won't be able to do this transition right away...you may never be able to do it, and that's okay.
The advanced yoga practitioners aren't the ones who can do fancy moves like this. The advanced practitioners are the ones who focus on their breath and stay present on their mat and in their body, making sure to stay safe and modify postures when necessary. They're the one's who don't notice what's going on on the mat next to them. Their focus is on their breath and moving slowly in and out of postures in coordination with their breath.
It's worth the effort.

Are you ready to get healthy?
As the body ages it goes through changes. Decrepitude doesn't have to be one of them.
Your body can remain strong and healthy as it ages.
It all depends on how you take care of it.
What are you eating?
What are you doing?
What are you thinking?
What do you spend your attention on?
It all matters.

Healthy aging is easy. Here's what you have to do:
Eat a healthy, well rounded plant based diet to promote optimal health in the body.
Practice yoga postures to keep the body strong and flexible.
Do yogic breathing exercises (pranayama) to increase the prana (life force, energy) within the body, and draw awareness inward.
Meditate, sit in silence, and just experience being.
Having a healthy body, a calm mind, an understanding of who you really are and your place in the universe brings peace of mind, contentment, and joy. What else matters?

You don't have to be able to touch your toes to do yoga.
Flexibility is one of the benefits, not a prerequisite.
You do have to have the ability to stay focused, or at least have the desire to improve your focus.
To achieve success in yoga you must be consistent in your practice.
Find a good yoga teacher to work with. I recommend a live, in person teacher over videos.

One of the first tenets of yoga, Ahimsa, means do no harm to any living thing.
It means be kind to others. It means be kind to animals too.
It means be kind to yourself and your own body by feeding it nutritional foods.
It means we don't kill animals and eat them.
It's not good for your body, the planet, or your karma.

"The success of Yoga does not lie in the ability to perform postures, but in how it positively changes the way we live our life and our relationships." -- T.K.V. Desikachar
Yoga gives us the tools for making our body healthy and strong, well into old age.
Yoga also gives us tools for living our day to day life.
The first tenet of yoga is ahimsa (do no harm to any living thing).
Not harming includes being careful of the words you use.
It even includes watching your thoughts. Thoughts have power.
It includes taking care of your body. Do no harm to yourself, too.
Are you practicing ahimsa?

“The light and life of our vision should shine everywhere. Finally, the eye of the soul, often called the “third eye,” is between your eyebrows but a little higher. If that is still, your soul is still and like a witness observes everything without being affected or enmeshed. So the skin of your brow should be relaxed too.”
-- B.K.S. Iyengar
Raja Yoga gives us tools to calm the body and relax the mind.
A calm mind brings discernment.
But it's hard to have a calm mind when your body is in pain or sick.
We must take care of our bodies in order to keep our mind still.
