Personal Helper In-Home Care, LLC. partnered with Family Private Care Services for a community networking event this week. We invited a handful of people and agencies in the Eldercare, Healthcare, and Social Service fields to get together, with our goal being to get to know each other so that we can better serve those in our community. We had Blake from Handi-Care Transportation, Babs from Foxhole Strategic Lifecoaching, Gene from Empower Strategies, Gary and Karole from Family Private Care, Misty from Senior Salon Services, Dee and Sarah from Easterseals West Alabama, Jenny from Regency Retirement Village of Tuscaloosa, Amy from Amy Fulmer Coaching, Clay from Premier Moving, and Jodi from United Way! We will be inviting more businesses to our next event, so if you or someone you know may be interested in joining us, please have them contact me!

The Tuscaloosa area has another chance of winter weather this week. Although we do not know if we will have rain, wintry mix, or snow, we do know that it will be extremely cold (for here). Highs will be in the low 30s and lows could get down to 11 degrees.
Please be sure that you and your loved ones are prepared. Some ideas are to: wrap outdoor spigots, leave faucets dripping inside, and have safe ways to stay warm. It also is a good idea to flashlights, batteries, medications, and extra food and water on hand.

September is Healthy Aging Month! As a Medicare beneficiary, you get an Annual Wellness Visit as a benefit. Note that an Annual Wellness Visit is different from a physical. If you haven't scheduled your wellness check yet, now would be a great time to do so!

We have received a lot of questions regarding Medicare plans, as Open Enrollment begins next month. If you have questions regarding plans, Medicare VS. Medicare Advantage, or prescription plans, we highly recommend that you contact the local Area Agency on Aging in your state. They can help you navigate all of that at NO COST to you!
