Heat therapy (using a warm towel or heating pad) can relax joints and improve blood flow to help with stiffness. Cold therapy (using an ice pack) can calm inflammation and numb pain. We find many patients incorrectly apply heat to an inflamed ligament or tendon. That's like adding gasoline to a fire!
