A narrow Brooklyn brownstone backyard may come with limited space, close neighbors, and landmark considerations, but with thoughtful design, it can still become a private wellness sanctuary.

Creating a custom backyard sauna in Brooklyn requires more than choosing a model. The design must respond to the property’s exact dimensions, shared sightlines, access limitations, and any LPC or DOB requirements that may apply.

At Cielo Wellness, we study the site before designing anything. Every detail, from placement and privacy screening to glazing and precision fabrication, is tailored to make the space feel intentional, comfortable, and naturally connected to the home.

Designed around the home. Built around the experience.

This custom outdoor sauna features a whitewashed Brazilian wood exterior, a warm clear cedar interior, and hunter green trim selected to complement the home’s existing finishes.

Equipped with a Harvia Spirit heater, the sauna is paired with an outdoor shower and cold plunge to create a complete hot-and-cold wellness experience. The shower is thoughtfully positioned between the sauna and cold plunge for easy access and a seamless transition from heat to cold.

Every material, color, and detail was customized to make the wellness space feel like a natural extension of the property.

A custom wellness space can add more than comfort to a luxury home. When thoughtfully designed, it can strengthen buyer appeal and protect the property’s long-term value.

The key is proper integration. A sauna or cold plunge room should be scaled to the home, aligned with its market tier, and finished as a natural extension of the architecture. Otherwise, even an expensive addition may receive little recognition during a formal appraisal.

Our latest guide explores how appraisers evaluate custom wellness spaces, what “superadequacy” means, and how homeowners, architects, and developers can design with both wellness and property value in mind.

An Alpine basement is not just extra square footage. It can become a private wellness retreat designed around your everyday routine.

Transforming it into a custom sauna and cold plunge requires thoughtful planning. From moisture control and drainage to ventilation, electrical systems, and permits, every detail must work with the property’s unique structure and rocky terrain.

At Cielo Wellness, we design each space around the home’s actual conditions, creating a wellness wing that feels intentional, performs properly, and protects the property around it.

Creating an indoor wellness space within this architecture requires more than installing a standard sauna. Every material, finish, and technical detail must be thoughtfully considered—from deeper wood tones and complementary hardware to proper ventilation, moisture control, electrical work, and permitting.

At Cielo Wellness, we design each space around the home’s existing character and systems. The result is a custom wellness room that feels cohesive, intentional, and true to the property.

We created three custom saunas and two luxury steam rooms, each designed with its own capacity, character, and purpose.

Fluted clear cedar, natural stone accents, floating ceilings, ambient LED lighting, built-in sound, and forest-inspired privacy glass bring warmth and tranquility to every sauna. Premium tiled steam rooms complete the experience with comfort, performance, and lasting beauty.

While this project was created for a commercial spa, the same attention to detail can transform your home into a personal wellness retreat.
