The info on High Fructose Corn Syrup. In a mad dash through the grocery store I grabbed apple sauce for the baby without looking at the label. I return home to read High Fructose Corn Syrup as the second ingredient. Silly me, I was expecting apples and water. So what's the big deal with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)? Unfortunately, due to HFCS being cheap to make and used as a preservative as well as a sweetener it's being put into an alarming number of processed foods...foods you might not even consider being sweetened! The second problem with it is that fructose can affect the part of the brain that controls appetite. This leads to over eating. Poor baby not only got an extra dose of sugar, but now still feels hungary! The solution: awareness and monitoring of the amount consumed. Please share where you found HFCS when you weren't expecting it!
