As running season picks up, taking care of your feet is crucial!
Dave breaks down how to prevent plantar fasciitis, bunions, fallen arches, and tibial stress injuries by intentionally activating the intrinsic muscles in your feet.

The simple technique: Stand with a neutral stance, gently shift your weight to the outside border of your feet, then gently press the toe pads (not tips) down into the ground. This activates your arch and keeps those supporting muscles engaged.

You can do this while standing or walking - train these muscles before demanding them during running.

Strong feet = pain-free running! 💪

Outdoor activities in warmer weather require different fueling strategies than indoor gym workouts. Heat increases your calorie and fluid needs significantly. For activities over 90 minutes in warm weather, you need easily digestible carbs during the activity itself - not just before. Sports drinks, energy gels, or simple foods like dates or pretzels keep your energy stable when sweating heavily.

Salt intake matters too - if you're a heavy sweater or notice white residue on your clothes after workouts, you need more sodium. Don't fear salt when you're active outdoors in warm weather - your body needs it for proper hydration and muscle function.

Thank You, Teachers! 🙏
We recently had the honor of providing injury screens, soft tissue work, massage, stretching, and access to our recovery lounge at a special event for the educators at Norwell Middle School!

Teaching is physically demanding work - from standing all day in the classroom to the mental and emotional energy it takes to shape young minds. Teachers deserve to feel their best, and we're grateful for the opportunity to give back to the educators who give so much to our community.

A huge thank you to Veronica and the entire team at Norwell Middle School for letting us be part of your day. Your dedication to our students is truly appreciated! 💙

Spring enthusiasm often leads to overtraining syndrome - too much activity, too little recovery. Signs you're doing too much include persistent fatigue, decreased performance despite training, trouble sleeping, increased resting heart rate, and nagging aches that won't go away. The fix isn't just rest days, it's strategic recovery. Schedule complete rest days where you do genuinely restful activities. Alternate hard training days with easy days. Listen to your body's signals before they become injuries. Progress matters more than perfection, and sometimes the strongest thing you can do is take a day off.

Shoulder still nagging you even after working on your overhead range? This one's for you.

If getting your arm behind your back, reaching for a seatbelt, or finishing your golf swing is where things break down — this exercise targets exactly that. Dr. Dave walks through a TheraBand drill that uses end-range strengthening to address limited shoulder internal and external rotation.

The key: light resistance. You're not trying to power through it. You're training the muscle to work from a stretched position — and that's where the magic happens for reducing pain and building real range of motion.

✅ Great for nagging shoulder pain
✅ Pitchers, grapplers, golfers — this one's for you
✅ Can be progressed for strength and power over time
