One question I hear often is: do lasers actually change the skin, or do they just make the surface look better?

As skin ages, some cells become damaged and stop working properly. These are often called senescent cells, or “zombie cells.” They do not function like healthy cells, but they also do not clear out easily. Over time, they can build up in the skin and release inflammatory signals that weaken collagen and accelerate visible aging.
