We are so proud to recognize Patrick, who received an official Proclamation from the State of Maryland in recognition of Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness! What an incredible honor and a meaningful way to help give a voice to those living with rare diseases.

Even more special, Patrick received this recognition in conjunction with , the annual awareness day of The Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders, observed each year on October 5th.

Peroxisomal disorders (PD) are a group of rare, inherited genetic conditions that occur when structures within our cells called peroxisomes do not function properly. Peroxisomes play an important role in breaking down certain fats and harmful substances and are essential to normal brain, nerve, and organ function. Because of this, PD can affect multiple systems throughout the body, and every individual’s journey can look different.
