✨Night 2✨
Okay, let’s get real. You’ve had your baby, those first 24 hours? A hazy, sleepy bubble.
They’re feeding, they’re snoozing, you’re thinking, “Wow, I’ve got this parenting thing down!”
Then, BAM! Night 2 hits you like a tidal wave. Suddenly, your little one is a 24/7 b**b-seeking missile.
They don’t want to be put down, they’re cluster feeding like it’s their job, and you’re staring at the ceiling at 3 am wondering if you’ve somehow broken your baby 🤯
Here’s the truth: Night 2 is a crucial part of establishing your milk supply. It’s when your prolactin levels are at their peak, and your baby is naturally driving production up.
This intense cluster feeding is exactly what your body needs to make sure you have a robust milk supply!
The biggest mistake many new Mums make? Panicking and reaching for formula. You think your milk isn’t enough, that something is wrong. (Spoiler: nothing is wrong!)
Now, let me be clear, I am a huge supporter of your choice. Formula, combo feeding, exclusive breastfeeding – whatever works for you, works for me! 🙌🏼
BUT, if your goal is to exclusively breastfeed, powering through Night 2’s marathon b**b session is vital!
So, how do you survive Night 2? Think of it as a slumber party, but with a newborn. Stock up on snacks, queue up your favorite movies, make sure your phone is charged, and tell your partner, “When the sun comes up, I’m getting some sleep.”
This night is about survival AND setting yourself up for long-term breastfeeding success 🥰
Remember, this intense phase is temporary. It’s your baby’s way of saying, “Mum, we need more milk!”
Trust the process, trust your body, and know that you’re doing an amazing job❤️
