A few minutes of stretching each day can make a big difference in how your hips and back feel. This seated piriformis stretch is simple, gentle, and can be done almost anywhere.

To perform this stretch, place one ankle over the opposite knee in a figure-four position. Gently pull the leg toward the opposite shoulder until you feel a comfortable stretch in the buttock area. Hold for 20–30 seconds and repeat 3 times on each side as tolerated.
You should feel a gentle, relaxing stretch—not pain. Repeat on the other side as needed.
