At the August 25, 2026, Nutter Fort Town Council meeting, Paramedic Jill McClure and EMT Frank Ferrari were formally recognized for their prompt and professional response to a significant medical emergency that occurred earlier this month.

On August 11, during the swearing-in ceremony for the Town of Nutter Fort’s new Police Chief, an attendee suddenly experienced a serious medical emergency requiring immediate intervention. Jill and Frank quickly recognized the severity of the situation and took swift, decisive action to provide the necessary emergency care.

Their professionalism, clinical judgment, and rapid response contributed to the patient being stabilized and receiving the definitive care they needed.

Nutter Fort EMS is proud to have dedicated providers like Jill and Frank serving our community. Their actions that day exemplify the professionalism, preparedness, and commitment to patient care that our personnel strive to provide every day.

West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection - Air Quality Division has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates for West Virgina until midnight EDT tonight. Elevated fine particulate matter levels are anticipated to drop as the day goes on today.
A code Orange air quality alert means members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected, but sensitive groups should take additional precautions.
These groups include children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
Check the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency`s www.AirNow.gov website for current air monitor readings.

This is just one level below Maroon (Hazardous), which indicates emergency air quality conditions.

Please take precautions to protect your health:

Limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities.
Wear a N95 mask if you must be outdoors.

Be especially mindful if you have asthma, heart or lung disease, are an older adult, or are caring for young children.

🌞 Heat Safety Alert from Nutter Fort Fire & EMS 🚑

North Central West Virginia, including the Clarksburg/Nutter Fort area, is expected to experience high temperatures in the upper 80s to mid-90s with humidity levels ranging from 65% to 80% this week. These conditions can make it feel even hotter and create dangerous situations that can quickly lead to heat-related illness.

High humidity reduces the body’s ability to cool itself through sweating, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, even during moderate activity or shorter periods outdoors.

Please remember to:
💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
⏰ Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–4 PM).
👶👴 Check on children, older adults, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable.
🐾 Don’t forget your pets—ensure they have fresh water and shade, and never leave anyone in a parked vehicle.

Know the warning signs:
⚠️ Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, nausea, and cool, clammy skin.
🚨 Heat Stroke: High body temperature, confusion, hot dry skin (or heavy sweating), loss of consciousness, or seizures. Call 911 immediately—heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe. Together, we can prevent heat-related emergencies.

Nutter Fort EMS remains committed to providing the highest level of patient care through continued investment in advanced medical equipment.

We are proud to announce the addition of two Sapphire Multi-Therapy Infusion Pumps to our fleet. These state-of-the-art devices allow our clinicians to administer medications through precise, controlled infusions, ensuring greater accuracy and safety for our patients.

The new infusion pumps enhance our capabilities in the 911 setting by allowing for reliable medication administration during critical emergencies. They will also play an important role during interfacility transports, particularly for patients requiring multiple continuous medication infusions while being transferred between healthcare facilities.

These infusion pumps were made possible through the State Legislative EMS Equipment Fund and a generous donation from the Nutter Fort Lions Club. We are extremely grateful for their support and commitment to helping us improve the care we provide to our patients each day.

As medicine continues to evolve, Nutter Fort EMS remains dedicated to equipping our providers with the tools necessary to deliver exceptional care to the communities we serve.

Today, Ambulance 719 had the privilege of attending the Reynoldsville Baptist Church Health Fair. During the event, our crew provided ambulance tours and shared information about when to call 911, how to recognize medical emergencies, and what to expect when EMS arrives.

One of the highlights of the day was giving children the opportunity to interact with some of our equipment. Many enjoyed using the LifePak monitor to see their heart rate and pulse oximetry readings while learning about how EMS providers assess patients.

Community education is an important part of our mission, and we were grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the community and answer questions about emergency medical services.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Reynoldsville Baptist Church for hosting the event and to the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department for the invitation. We appreciate the opportunity to participate!

Today, Nutter Fort EMS honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness secured the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy each day.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders, and their families for their continued service and sacrifice.
