Realism, Romanticism and Intellectualism
"If, in the pursuit of your daily activities you coddle your feelings, you will act as a romantic; if you follow your thoughts, your conduct will be that of an intellectual. Your behavior will be governed by feelings whose story has been hastily believed, or by thoughts whose suggestions were uncritically accepted. In either case, your action will be guided by the subjective promptings of your inner experiences instead of by the objective requirements of outer reality. If you were a realist, you would give first consideration to the facts of the prevailing situation and would suppress your thoughts or feelings if you found they conflicted with the realities."
