🎉The final cups have finally arrived!🎉

This month's The Story Cup features 🌈Yvonne🌈

She can’t remember life before homelessness. Now 7 years after moving into her apartment she can’t
imagine where she’d be without getting help. Her journey hasn’t been easy. Yvonne traveled through a
twenty-year addiction to he**in and co***ne; many recovery treatments including a 12 Step Program;
and finally to a case manager who talked her through the toughest times. “I learned how to be
responsible at Housing Forward.” Now she has a positive attitude about herself, her relationships and
her life. Her advice for others? “Avoid putting unrealistic expectations on other people. Make the big
changes step by step—minute by minute—and your story can be successful too.”

We partnered with local artist where her design incorporated elements of empowerment from Yvonne's story - "With this design, I simplified the design a bit and focused on illustrating her journey. I used plants, coming out of a brown ground to show their growth up and out, weaving around her written story, with design elements calling out different parts of the story. The coin: to signify her sobriety, with the number 7 on there to call to her 7 years at her apartment. The key and the house symbol to show how her sobriety led to her getting a long term home. Then finishing off with a dragonfly which in many cultures signifies victory, change and transformation over time."

✨Watch this space and don't forget to support by following, liking and promoting awareness for their amazing support services! ✨

📣 NEW CUP ALERT 📣

🗣🗣Today we are talking about STIGMA.🗣🗣

✨Addiction is often associated with a variety of stigmas and stereotypes which can often be misunderstood. With the help of a group of very talented students from Holy Trinity High school, we have created a cup to highlight the importance of 'seeing the human being behind the addiction'.

✨Stigma surrounding addiction is alarmingly prevalent and can be a barrier to healing. Stigma can damage a person's self value and make the road to recovery even more so challenging. Addiction does not discriminate, and nor should you. The Lake County Opioid Initiative (www.opioidinitiative.org) acknowledges that we are all beautiful souls deserving of love and support and should not be defined by a disease.

🍳You can find our new stigma cup at Fried Egg Cafe! Please remember that we need your help to raise awareness, so please feel free to tag us in any posts or pictures with .

🤩Thank you to everyone for their continuous support and stay tuned for an exciting new announcement coming very soon... 🤩
