🚨 Your baby is NOT waking up at 3 AM to annoy you.

It’s biology. 👶💤

One of the biggest surprises for new parents is realizing that newborns have absolutely no idea what day or night is.

Their internal body clock (circadian rhythm) is still under construction. 🧠

That means when your baby wakes up at:
⏰ 1 AM
⏰ 3 AM
⏰ 5 AM

They’re not being difficult.

They’re usually waking because:
🍼 They’re hungry
💧 Their diaper is wet
😴 They’re transitioning between sleep cycles
🧠 Their rapidly growing brain needs something

In fact, babies don’t begin developing a mature day-night rhythm until around 2–3 months of age.

Ever lay your baby down peacefully…
and suddenly they throw their arms up like they’re falling off a cliff? 😭👶

That dramatic little movement is called the Moro reflex — also known as the startle reflex.

And no… your baby is not broken 😂

Newborns are born with this automatic reflex that happens when:
• they hear a sudden noise
• feel like they’re falling
• or sometimes for absolutely no obvious reason at 3AM 😅

Their arms fling outward and then pull back in quickly — often waking themselves up in the process.

That’s one of the BIG reasons swaddling helps newborns sleep better.
It limits the reflex enough to keep them from startling themselves awake every 20 minutes.

The Moro reflex is completely normal and usually disappears around 4–6 months as the nervous system matures. 🧠✨

“WHY are my baby’s eyes open while sleeping?!” 😳👀

Few things scare new parents faster than looking over at their sleeping baby…
and seeing tiny little eyes partly open staring into the void 😂

But here’s the good news:

Some babies naturally sleep with their eyes partially open — and it’s usually COMPLETELY normal.

Newborns still have immature eyelid muscle control, so their eyelids don’t always fully close during sleep.

You might notice:
• a tiny gap between the eyelids
• the whites of the eyes showing
• fluttering or moving eyes during sleep

That eye movement? Usually REM sleep — the deep dream stage where baby brains are rapidly developing. 🧠✨

And yes… some babies really do open ONE eye like they’re suspicious of everything around them 👁️😂
