"If you finish dinner, we'll get ice cream," you tell your kid. Dinner gets finished. Ice cream doesn't happen. You don't think much of it, but your kid does.

"Two weeks," the GC told me. Two weeks ago. Imagine how many times I've heard "two weeks." They're trying to get or keep the job while I'm trying to plan structure into my life.

A small detail just got logged each time: what this person says and what this person does are not the same thing. Now scale that into business: your team, your clients, your affiliates.

Here's what every broken "two weeks" costs you.

I still have a popsicle stick bowl I made during summer camp. It’s uneven. The glue has changed color over the past 40 years. It is still in one piece.

Nothing happened to their ability. So, what did happen? And how do you get it back?

Where in your life are you choosing what's familiar and calling it a choice?

Familiar and right aren't the same thing. Hollar's Potter's Wheel™ breaks personal agency into five repeatable principles: Awareness, Acceptance, Ownership, Boundaries, and Choice.

"I don't have time" sounds like a fact. Is it?

The person training for a marathon at 5 a.m. and the person who can't find 20 minutes to walk have the same 24 hours. So what's really going on?

It's not a time management issue. It's something else disguised as a time problem. I break down what it is, and the one question that makes it hard to hide behind.

Think of the last time you noticed a problem forming outside your lane and said nothing.

Every time we trade influence for comfort, it feels small. Multiply it by a few hundred employees over a few years, and you get what we call "corporate culture."

What's your "probably nothing"?

The energy that isn't what it used to be. The number on the bloodwork you never asked about. The thing you'll get checked "after the busy season."

Waiting doesn't cancel the outcome. It just changes who's in charge of it. Here's how to be a partner in your health instead of a passenger, before the other shoe drops.

Nicole Hollar, behavior change keynote speaker and coach, explains why waiting for a health crisis costs more than acting early, and how to research, ask questions, and advocate for yourself now. Take control of your health before a crisis.

You can spend years trying to understand why someone treats you the way they do.

Sometimes that's the wrong perspective. A more useful one is:
Why do I continue participating in something I say I don't want?

That's not blaming yourself for someone else's behavior. It's distinguishing theirs from yours.

You can't control their choice; but you can do something about yours.
