The idea isn’t wrong.

Movement is important. Learning how your body moves through different positions can absolutely be valuable. ✅

But once you put a loaded barbell into the equation, the standard changes.

➡️ The traditional Zercher squat is already a challenging exercise that demands strength, stability, and good technique. Turning it into a heavily loaded spinal-flexion variation creates a lot more risk with very little additional benefit for most people.

Could an advanced lifter do it safely? Maybe.

Should the average person scrolling social media try it? Probably not. 🚫

The goal isn’t to find the most complicated exercise.

The goal is to find the safest, most effective way to get stronger.

At TNT Strength, we focus on movements that build strength, confidence, and long-term durability—not exercises that look impressive for social media. 💥

Just because an exercise looks harder doesn’t mean it’s more effective. ❌

Adding unstable surfaces, bands, or balancing challenges often makes an exercise feel more difficult—but that doesn’t automatically make it better for building strength, improving balance, or moving well.

➡️ Balance is highly specific to the task you’re practicing. Getting better at balancing on a band doesn’t necessarily improve your ability to balance during everyday activities.

In most cases, if your goal is to get stronger, move better, and stay independent as you age, you’re usually better off focusing on exercises that let you apply force effectively and progress consistently. ✅

The goal isn’t to make an exercise look impressive.

The goal is to get results.

Not every exercise needs to be perfect.

Sometimes a small adjustment to the setup can make a movement more comfortable, more stable, and easier to control.

In this case, we like the idea:
✅ Training one side at a time
✅ Working through a large range of motion
✅ Giving attention to potential strength differences side-to-side

The bigger question isn’t whether an exercise is “good” or “bad.”

It’s whether you’re doing it in a way that helps you get the most out of it.
