The Non-Negotiables: 7-9 Hours, Same Bedtime
Knowing you need sleep and actually getting it are two different things. Here is the simple version that works.
First, same bedtime every night. Your body runs on rhythm. An irregular schedule confuses it the same way irregular meals confuse your appetite. Pick a time you can keep seven days a week and protect it like a training session.
Second, wind down on purpose. The last thirty minutes of your day decide the first hour of your night. Phone face down and across the room. Lights low. If your mind races, write tomorrow's list on paper and let it go. A few slow breaths work too. Give your brain a clear signal that the day is done.
Third, make the room boring. Dark, cool, quiet. Your body sleeps deepest when the room is cool, somewhere in the mid sixties. Blackout curtains or a sleep mask if street light gets in.
Fourth, watch the inputs. Caffeine has a half life of about six hours, so that 3 PM coffee is still in you at 9. Alcohol might make you drowsy but it wrecks the deep sleep where recovery happens.
None of this is complicated. That is the point. The Method is not about hacks. It is about doing the simple things with consistency until they stop being things you do and start being who you are.
Tonight: phone across the room, lights low at thirty minutes out, same bedtime. Start there.
