Sharing a farm update for 2025. We are planning to add additional crops this year. So far thinking there's gaps to be filled still with berries in the area...strawberry, raspberry, loganberry, thornless blackberries possibly.

Beyond that, we have been researching saffron, elderberry, and basil. Along with other medicinal herbs for drying.

How is it almost time already for the chop chop choppity?! Summer flew by...whew!

In other news we had some visitors to the farm from Costa Rica the other week. Costa Rica recently legalized h**p & CBD and we were happy to entertain and show these friends our flowers.

We've been really enjoying the exotic gear from Oregon CBD Seeds and Zoe Therapeutics. It's all varieties we've never done before with delicious sounding names like Cake Berry Brûlée, Lemon Octane, Sour Candy Kush.... the aroma in this field is LOUD & we can't wait to try these ourselves and offer them to everyone this fall.

Cheers to summer finally arriving this week!

What a wet crazy June we have had! Our field is located in low lying very old flood plains that are almost downright boggy when not properly dried out, so we have had a heck of a time getting the field work done this season with the what seemed like constant June rain and cool temperatures. The plan was to be planted by the first/second week of June and look at us here almost July and finally getting planted this week! We are thankful seedling growth -while healthy- was also slowed accordingly by the sub-optimal weather, they are looking lush and ready now. Luckily we have planted even later than this in past years so we know everything will turn out just fine but it can be frustrating when things aren't going according to planned. If there's one thing we've learned from farming it is to be patient, trust the process, think outside the box to solve problems with flexibility, and always have a plan B, C, D, XYZ. ha!

Happy International Women's Day! We sure do appreciate the several women on the Umpqua Valley H**p team.

Here is our Cofounder, Maria during harvest 2021 getting her hands dirty and having fun! It might not be as common, but women farm too!

Besides filling in at harvest time, Maria is mama of Violet, and a 2nd babe due in June. She is wife of farmer Geoff, manages the office, regulatory, media side of the business and loves product development projects she helps with for Umpqua Valley H**p.
