A few words from our fearless leader, Irina. 🤍

Dolly Parton died this week at 80.

Everyone brings up how open she was about the plastic surgery and the Botox. She was, and I’m glad she was. But that gets treated like the headline when it was such a small part of who she was.

In 1973, Dolly wrote “I Will Always Love You.” Elvis Presley wanted to record it. The night before the session, his manager told her Elvis would only do it if she signed over half the publishing rights.

She said no.

She cried all night because she wanted to hear Elvis sing her song. But she knew what she had built, and she wasn’t giving half of it away.

Years later, Whitney Houston recorded it. Dolly reportedly earned around $10 million in royalties from that version alone.

She took that money and invested it in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Nashville because she thought it was the right thing to do.

She also quietly helped fund the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, has given more than 300 million books to children through her Imagination Library, and after the 2016 Tennessee wildfires, gave families who lost their homes $1,000 a month for six months.

She was funny about beauty because she never confused beauty with substance.

She knew exactly who she was.

Smile a lot? Your cheeks may have the receipts. 😁 Those lines that fan across the cheeks when you smile are what we call accordion lines. 🪗 They come from normal facial movement (so technically, having a good time is partly to blame), but as we lose collagen and the skin becomes thinner over time, those folds can become deeper and start hanging around longer than we'd like.

💉 WHY NOT JUST USE TOX?
Because we actually need your cheeks and mouth to move. Trying to relax the muscles responsible for accordion lines could interfere with the expressions we very much want you to keep. Smiling is staying.

🫧 WHAT ABOUT FILLER?
We don't necessarily want to chase every little crease with filler or add volume where it isn't needed. In this case, Lily wanted to improve the quality and support of the skin itself.
