In a world that prioritizes productivity over well-being, we start to feel like there is something wrong with us for caring so muchβfor wanting people to feel seen, valued, and cared for.
In organizations prioritizing productivity and paperwork over the wellbeing of the people we are supposed to serve, we can feel like we are doing something wrong by prioritizing peopleβs wellbeing.
It can be so hard to stay warm in such a cold and frigid world.
It is like swimming in the cold ocean without a wetsuit; inevitably, the cold penetrates so deeply that it goes right into your bones.
I have come to realize that people who are deeply uncomfortable with their own emotions and internal experiences often want us to feel less. It is the people who uphold unjust systems and power dynamics who tell us to be more logical.
They may even be threatened by people who show a genuine sense of care and warmth, which results in attempts to make those with big hearts question themselves.
I donβt believe that the answer is to feel less. Our work is to learn how to stay warm in a cold world.
