Here's a scenario we run inside Frontline Forward. Read it and ask yourself what you'd actually do?
You just got promoted to supervisor. One of your guys is someone you used to grab lunch with every day. Now he's taking 20-minute breaks, assuming you'll look the other way because you're friends.
What do you do — and when?
Most new leaders pick one of two wrong answers. They say nothing and let it slide, because calling it out feels like betrayal. Or they overcorrect, come in hard and lose the relationship for good. Both cost you — one costs your credibility with the rest of the crew, the other costs you a good employee.
There's a third option, and it's a conversation, not a confrontation. We teach it as the Reset Conversation:
Name the change — "My role's different now, and I want to be straight with you about it." Name what stays — what you respect about them, so it doesn't land as rejection. Name what you need — the standard, plainly, no ambiguity.
Do this in your first week as a leader, not your first write-up.
The leaders who wait get tested. The ones who have this conversation early get respected.
This is the kind of real-floor scenario every module in Frontline Forward is built around — no theory, just the conversations your team is actually waiting on you to have.
