“Farmers market will remain at the convention center through September 1.” Stay tuned for updates!!!!!!

After unexpectedly closing Grove Park nearly three weeks ago, Rehoboth Beach officials have announced it will reopen to foot traffic Friday, Aug. 28.

Citing concerns about unsafe trees, the city announced Grove Park was closed until further notice Aug. 11. The decision was made after state experts assessed the park’s trees the previous day and recommended five red oak trees be removed immediately. A little more than a week later, Aug. 19, the city said a second inspection found the oaks showed signs of bacterial leaf scorch, which is a disease spread by insects that feed on the trees, and they should be removed as soon as possible.

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market was canceled the first week of the park closure and has spent the last two weeks in the parking lot next to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
Brooke Thaler, city communications director, said the farmers market will remain at the convention center parking lot for at least the Tuesday, Sept. 1 date.
