Today we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we live with the freedoms we have. May we remember them with gratitude, humility, and respect.

Today I’m holding space for every kind of mother and every kind of heart.

For the moms in the thick of it, the moms doing it solo, the moms learning as they go, the moms who’ve lost, the moms who are missing their own, the moms who stepped in by choice, and the women who mother through love, presence, and care — you matter so much.

Mother’s Day isn’t one‑size‑fits‑all.
However this day meets you, I hope you feel seen, supported, and surrounded by gentleness.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who love in a mother’s way.

After brain injury, the brain doesn’t just “bounce back” — it rebuilds, rewires, and relearns. Every small shift you make (rest, pacing, hydration, boundaries, positive input) literally changes the way your brain fires.

If you needed a sign that your healing is still happening, even on the quiet days, this is it.
Your brain is still fighting for you.
Your job is to keep showing up for it.

Comment “REWIRE” if you’re choosing growth today.

May your day be filled with grace, clarity, and renewed purpose.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to honor the strength, resilience, and lived wisdom of the brain injury community.

This year, I’m doing something special. I’ll be hosting a new webinar series highlighting the incredible work of professionals, advocates, and creators who are making a real difference in TBI recovery and support.

Our first video drops Monday, March 9, and I’m genuinely excited to share these resources with you. There is so much brilliance happening in this field, and amplifying it feels like a gift.

Whether you’re a survivor, caregiver, clinician, or ally—there’s something here for you.
Let’s learn, grow, and uplift this community together. 💚

We lost a steady, courageous voice this morning. Rev. Jesse Jackson spent his life standing up for people — not for recognition, but because dignity mattered to him at a human level.

What I’m holding today is gratitude. Gratitude for the doors he pushed open, the conversations he expanded, and the way he showed up with consistency even when the work was heavy. His presence shaped so much of what we now take as possible.

May his legacy remind us to stay grounded, stay compassionate, and keep choosing justice in the small, everyday ways that add up.

Rest in power, Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Brain‑Centered Positive Thinking After TBI

After a traumatic brain injury, “positive thinking” can feel like a loaded phrase. It’s not about pretending everything is fine or forcing yourself to be grateful when your brain and body are exhausted. Real positivity after TBI is brain‑friendly—it’s gentle, realistic, and rooted in how the injured brain actually heals.

Here’s what positive thinking looks like through a neuro-informed lens:

1. Positive thinking is regulation, not perfection.
Your brain heals best when it feels safe. A single slow breath, a moment of grounding, or choosing a kinder thought is not “small”—it’s neurological progress.

2. It’s about micro‑shifts, not big leaps.
Instead of “I’m fine,” try: “I’m doing the best I can with the energy I have today.” These tiny reframes reduce cognitive load and support nervous system stability.

3. It honors the hard days.
Positive thinking after TBI doesn’t erase symptoms. It simply helps you move through them with less self‑blame and more compassion.

4. It builds new pathways.
Every time you choose a supportive thought, you’re strengthening neural connections that help with resilience, emotional balance, and recovery.

5. It’s a practice, not a personality trait.
You don’t have to “be positive.” You just practice noticing when your brain needs a softer, safer thought—and offer it one.

Healing isn’t about forcing positivity. It’s about creating a brain environment where hope, clarity, and regulation can grow. Your progress counts, even on the days it feels invisible.

Your brain deserves rest, too!

Weekends aren’t just for catching up—they’re for slowing down. Resting your brain helps consolidate memories, boost creativity, and restore emotional balance. Whether it’s quiet time, nature, or simply doing nothing, intentional rest shifts your brain into healing mode. Let’s normalize rest as a right, not a reward. 🌻

Black History Month Highlight:

Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle represent a legacy of leadership, integrity, and possibility.

Barack Obama’s historic presidency expanded the nation’s imagination of what leadership can look like, while Michelle Obama’s advocacy for education, wellness, and community uplift continues to inspire generations. Together, they embody resilience, service, and the power of using one’s platform to open doors for others.

Their story is a reminder that progress is built through courage, compassion, and collective hope.
