Biohacking has been around for a while, but it looks a little different in 2026.

Instead of just intermittent fasting, cold plunges and fitness trackers, the latest trends are becoming much more personalized. People are using wearable devices to track sleep and recovery, continuous glucose monitors to watch their blood sugar and other tools to collect more information about what’s happening inside their bodies.

But having more health data doesn’t necessarily mean you need to “hack” everything.

Before you invest in the latest device or wellness trend, learn more about biohacking, what may actually be useful and when it’s worth talking with your doctor: www.scripps.org/7709f

From fasting to wearables, see what biohacking can and cannot do.

From routine visits to managing ongoing health needs, advanced practice providers (APPs) are an important part of caring for patients across Scripps. đź’™

Nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other APPs diagnose and treat conditions, prescribe medications, provide preventive care and help patients understand what comes next.

During APP Week, we’re recognizing the APPs who work alongside physicians and other care team members to help keep our patients and communities healthy.

Thank you to all of our APPs for the care you provide!

Heart attack symptoms in women aren't always what people expect.

While chest pain is a common warning sign, women may also experience shortness of breath, unusual fatigue, nausea, jaw or neck pain, dizziness or trouble sleeping in the weeks leading up to a heart attack.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women in the U.S., but recognizing the signs and seeking care quickly can save lives.

Poulina Uddin, MD, a cardiologist with Scripps Women's Heart Center, shares what to know.

Most newborns are ready to head home a few days after birth. Others need a little more time and specialized care before they’re ready. 💙

A neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU, provides around-the-clock care for premature or medically fragile newborns who may need extra help after birth.

For NICU Awareness Month, Casey Cohenmeyer, MD, a neonatologist with Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, joined Fox 5 to talk about NICU care and the partnership between Scripps and Rady Children’s that helps provide this specialized care to San Diego babies and families.

Watch the interview:

A lump in your neck, trouble swallowing or a hoarse voice can happen for many reasons — and most are not thyroid cancer. But changes like these are still worth discussing with your doctor.

Thyroid cancer often has no symptoms and is diagnosed during a routine exam or imaging test. For most patients, thyroid cancer is very treatable, with care tailored to their specific diagnosis.

Scripps Clinic oncologist Jacob New, MD, PhD, explains how thyroid cancer is diagnosed, the different ways it can be treated and what patients can expect after treatment.

There are a lot of people involved in making sure a surgery goes smoothly, including some you may never meet.

Surgical technologists are an important part of the operating room team, preparing instruments and equipment, maintaining the sterile field and making sure the surgical team has what they need throughout a procedure.

This National Surgical Technologists Week, we’re celebrating our Scripps surgical techs across San Diego and all they do behind the scenes for our patients.

For the first time since 2018, national cholesterol guidelines have been updated — and they recommend paying attention to heart health earlier in life.

Why the change? New research and advances in testing are helping doctors better understand a person’s long-term risk for heart disease and stroke, so prevention can start sooner.

The new guidelines recommend assessing cardiovascular risk beginning at age 30 instead of 40. And for children with a family history of high cholesterol or a high genetic risk, cholesterol testing could start as early as age 9.

The guidelines also look beyond traditional cholesterol numbers to provide a more complete picture of your individual risk.

During Cholesterol Education Month, learn what’s changed and what the new recommendations could mean for you and your family: https://www.scripps.org/8197fb

Hearing “you have prostate cancer” can bring a lot of questions — including what happens next.

One thing that may surprise you is that aggressive treatment doesn't always need to begin right away. Depending on the stage and risk of the cancer, options can range from closely monitoring it through active surveillance to surgery, radiation and other treatments.

During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, learn what goes into determining the right approach and the questions you may want to ask your care team after a diagnosis.

Understanding your options can help you and your loved ones feel more prepared for the decisions ahead: www.scripps.org/4535f
