If you have autoimmune symptoms, inflammation, Hashimoto’s, joint pain, rashes, or a body that feels like it is always reacting, prolactin may be one clue worth looking at.
Prolactin is supposed to follow a circadian rhythm. It should be higher at night, when your body is resting and your immune system can “clean house.”
But if prolactin is elevated during the day, the immune system may start acting like it is in nighttime cleanup mode while you are awake and active.
That can put your T cells into “attack mode,” which may show up as autoimmune signs.
This is why I look at prolactin between 8:00 and 9:00 AM.
It is not just about whether prolactin exists. It is about whether it is showing up at the right time.
When your hormones lose their rhythm, your immune system can lose its rhythm too.
