A little Labor Day heads-up! 🇺🇸

HALO will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day and will reopen Tuesday, September 8th.

We hope you’ll use the long weekend to get outside, take a walk, spend time with the people you love, and enjoy a little extra rest. 🤍

Thank you for choosing HALO and trusting us with your care. We’re so grateful to serve you!

Getting older doesn’t mean handing over the reins to your health. 🤍

At HALO, we believe you should be an active part of every conversation, every decision and every plan we make together.

Because good primary care after 50 isn’t just about adding years to your life. It’s about helping you stay healthy, independent and doing the things you love along the way.

Happy National Dog Day from HALO! 🐾🤍

There’s something special about the way our dogs care for us, too. They get us moving, help lower stress, give us companionship, and sometimes give us the perfect reason to step outside and enjoy a little fresh air.

Today, we’re celebrating all the four-legged friends who make life a little happier (and a lot more fun).

Now it’s your turn, drop a photo of your pup in the comments. 🐶🤍

At HALO Primary Care, we believe healthcare should never feel rushed. Every visit is about being heard, your questions answered, your concerns taken seriously, and your care built around you as an individual.

Our patients say it best: they feel relaxed, respected, and confident they’re getting the best care possible. That kind of trust isn’t something we take for granted, it’s something we work to earn at every single appointment.

Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, you deserve a provider who has time for you. That’s what we’re here for.

“Why do you keep testing the same labs every year?”

Fair question. One result is a snapshot, the trend is what matters. An A1C moving from 5.4 to 5.7 to 5.9 over three years tells us plenty, and gives us time to change course before it becomes a diagnosis. Same goes for kidney function, cholesterol, thyroid, and vitamin D.

The repetition isn’t redundancy, it’s how prevention works. We’re watching the slope, not the point.

Due (or overdue) for your annual labs? Let’s get you on the schedule. 📋

Take a look inside HALO Primary Care. 🤍

We believe you should be an active part of your healthcare. That means taking the time to listen, understand your goals, and work alongside you to create a plan that feels both realistic and attainable.

From our exam rooms to our in-office lab for convenient bloodwork, our space was designed to make caring for your health a little simpler.

Welcome to HALO — primary care centered around you.

If you had to evacuate in 24 hours, would your medications be ready to go?

As we head into the busiest weeks of hurricane season, now is a good time to make sure your medication information is organized and easy to grab if you need it.

Consider creating a medication go-bag with your current prescriptions in their original bottles, a written medication list, photos of each bottle label, cooler or ice packs for medications that require refrigeration, pharmacy phone numbers, insurance and Medicare cards, and provider and emergency contact information.

For adult children: this is also a great time to check in with your parents. Ask them to send you a photo of their current medication list and make sure you know where their prescriptions are kept.

A little preparation now can make a stressful situation much easier later.

Protein isn’t a young person’s concern. After 50 we lose muscle mass more quickly and muscle is what keeps you steady on your feet, independent in your home, and recovering well after illness.

Wondering where to start? Divide your weight in pounds by 2.2, then multiply by 1 to 1.2 — that gives you a rough daily protein target in grams. If you’re actively working to build or hold onto muscle, lean toward the higher end.

You don’t need a full diet overhaul to get there. A few swapped ingredients throughout the day, a higher-protein breakfast, chicken worked into more than one meal, a snack that actually holds you over — add up faster than most people expect.

Not sure if you’re hitting your number? That’s a great one to bring up at your next visit.

Somewhere around age 18, we stop thinking about vaccines. But the schedule doesn’t end, it just changes, and nobody hands you the updated version.

Swipe through for what’s actually recommended after 50: shingles, pneumococcal, RSV, Tdap, and flu, with what each one does and when to get it.

The short version: what you’re due for depends on your age, health history, and what you’ve already had. This isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s a starting point for a real conversation.

Book an appointment with us and we’ll walk through your vaccine history together.
