I am so proud of my daughter who is interning with Boeing in Seattle and is able to maintain her healthy lifestyle inspite of her very busy schedule. In addition to eating nutritious meals, she also goes to core power everyday and walks/hikes as is possible with her schedule. 🏋🏽‍♀️💪🏼

Let’s teach our kids young and be role models for them. Following a healthy lifestyle does not mean giving up what you love, it means eating in moderation, right portions, eating mindfully and enjoying what we eat and drink. Healthy lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight, it is a mindset change that we all need to incorporate and I say the younger the better. Thanks to Ultima, I was able to share some of the electrolytes with my daughter and she is truly enjoying them. Here is a look at how her days are in terms of eating & drinking!🥗🍌

With summer approaching, I know that making nourishing meals can be hard for fit into busy schedules. Some of my favorite recipes are quick meals that are not only simple to make, but also well-balanced and flavorful. One of my go-to lunches during busy days is a veggie quesadilla made in a hero tortilla which included 16g of fiber! This meal is simple to make as you just add in veggies, cheese, and the option to add protein(s) such as chicken or beans. 🫘🌶️🥬🌮

May is IBS awareness month and Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I wanted to share a practical approach to IBS management through nutrition. IBS is a gastrointestinal issue where the digestive system is unable to work properly, causing symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, or changes in bowel habits. Symptoms can be managed through different nutritional approaches, especially when they are prominent. 🥒🥕🍌

One approach I suggest to my clients is doing a temporary low FODMAP diet. This approach focuses on minimizing foods that are hard for the body to digest which can cause it to sit in the gut and ferment, leading to IBS symptoms. Foods that are digestible include various vegetables such as carrots and cucumbers, dairy alternatives, nuts and seeds, and beverages such as green tea or black coffee (without milk).

Management of chronic diseases can start with nutritional approaches and having support. I offer a mother and me program and with Mother’s Day coming up, I am offering a special program. April is Soy Foods Month! Check out these two soy based recipes on my website. Soy is a complete plant-based protein which means it contains all nine essential amino acids our body needs. March was National Nutrition Month and I am so thankful that RD Link connected us with some wonderful companies! My favorites amongst the samples I received was the Harmony Prebiotic drink and Goodles!

For those of you who closely know me, you know I love drinking herbal teas, it keeps me going throughout the day. I was actually on the look out for a tea that also had some benefits to the gut and this tea did not disappoint! Harmony herbal teas support gut health and digestion and come in many delicious flavors. Goodles are both nutrient packed and delicious, containing 10% or more of the daily value of nutrients in one serving! These are perfect for a quick meal, especially for my daughter who is a busy college student and a big fan of Mac and cheese. This is a healthy alternative to other Mac and cheeses and we absolutely love the taste and nutritional benefits it adds.
