When we asked Laquana what she’d tell someone with vision loss who’s worried about finding work, that was her answer. This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we’re celebrating Laquana and every team member who proves that vision loss doesn’t define what you can do. At NewView, the machines are modified, the technology is accessible, and the team is ready to train you, so you can build both a career and an independent life.

Every child deserves the chance to see their world clearly: to read a book, recognize a friend's face across the playground, or catch a ball thrown their way. At NewView Oklahoma, we see every day how much clear vision shapes a child's ability to learn, connect, and grow with confidence.

That's why we're proud to support the Early Detection of Vision Impairments (EDVI) Act. It is legislation that would help ensure kids across the country get the vision screenings they need, when they need them. This World Sight Day (October 8), we're joining organizations nationwide in calling on Congress to pass the EDVI Act.

This fall, our manufacturing team has been hard at work on an expansive kitting order for Feed the Children. Feed the Children's team has been right here alongside us, visiting the floor and seeing the care and skill our employees bring to every kit. We're proud to help them get resources into the hands of families who need them, and grateful for the chance to show what our team can do.

Celebrate National White Cane Day with NewView Oklahoma! Join us October 15 for an interactive open house celebrating the independence a white cane makes possible.

Come try blindfolded games, explore how people with vision loss navigate a sidewalk or work in the kitchen, and see if you can play darts without sight. You can also watch white cane demonstrations, tour our Classen facility, connect with the blind and low vision community, and learn about NewView’s resources for people of all ages.

October is National Blindness Awareness Month, and we want to start the conversation with something simple: how to offer help.

If you see someone who is blind or has low vision and think they might want assistance, it's always okay to ask. But the key word there is to ask, and if the answer is "I'm okay, thanks," that's okay. Many of our clients have trained for months to move through the world independently, and a well-meaning nudge in the wrong direction can undo that.

The best kind of support respects the answer you're given. That's a lesson for all of us and not just for this month.
