Pancreatic cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to treat; however, a newly FDA-approved targeted therapy called daraxonrasib, sold under the brand name Rasonque, now offers another treatment option for certain adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Agnel Raparthi, M.D., a board-certified hematologist and oncologist at the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute, explains how daraxonrasib works, who may be eligible and what patients should discuss with their cancer care team.

After more than 25 years of service at INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute, Gary Larson, M.D., is retiring.

Among his many accolades, Dr. Larson:
πŸ’š Performed the first ultrasound-guided trans-perineal brachytherapy for prostate cancer in Oklahoma using iodine or palladium in 1995.
πŸ’š Brought the first CT simulator to Oklahoma in 1994.
πŸ’š Helped design INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute and the proton center.

On Thursday, caregivers, friends and family gathered around Dr. Larson to wish him a happy retirement. We are incredibly thankful for him and all he has done for INTEGRIS Health over the years. Join us in wishing him well!

Blood cancers can develop quietly, often masking their early signs as minor health issues like fatigue or frequent infections.

We speak to Bilal Ahmad, M.D., a board-certified hematologist and oncologist with INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute Southwest, to learn more.

Blood cancers can develop quietly, often masking their early signs as minor health issues like fatigue or frequent infections. Many people dismiss these symptoms as stress or seasonal illnesses and put off further medical help. Timely detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes and qualit...

Colorectal cancer remains one of the most important preventable cancers in the United States. The good news is that patients have more screening options than ever. The best test is the one that is appropriate for your risk level and actually gets completed on schedule.

Neal Kaushal, M.D., MBA, a board-certified gastroenterologist with INTEGRIS Health Medical Group Gastroenterology Edmond and gastroenterology section chief for INTEGRIS Health, explains what patients should know about colon cancer screening, when to start and how to choose the right option.

Colon cancer can develop quietly. Many people feel completely well, have no pain, no bleeding and no change in bowel habits β€” and still have precancerous polyps or early colorectal cancer. That is exactly why screening matters. Screening gives physicians the opportunity to find cancer earlier, whe...

Eighty-one-year-old Mike Loyd is somewhat of a handy man. β€œI've always been kind of active mechanically,” he claims. β€œBut it was kind of getting difficult to do things with my hands because they were hurting so much.”

That’s when he went to see Shripal Bhavsar, M.D., a radiation oncologist at INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute. Bhavsar recommended using low-dose radiation to treat Mike’s osteoarthritis. This technique uses small amounts of X-ray energy to target inflamed and painful joints.

β€œFor Mike, we set up a plan to essentially treat all of the joints in both of his hands,” says Bhavsar. β€œWe were able to do both hands at the same time. We did roughly a couple treatments a week for about eight weeks. At the end of that, he felt considerably better.”

Patients frequently report returning to hobbies they previously abandoned due to physical limitations. For Mike, he's back in his garage tinkering with his cars.
