Great work, Tulsa Police Department!

16-Year-Old Autistic Child Found

The Tulsa Police Department successfully reunited a missing 16-year-old autistic teenager with his family today after a coordinated search effort.

Coordinated Search Effort

After the teenager went missing from the East Central Village Apartments, officers immediately began searching the surrounding area.

Officers Yanik, Anderson, Sanders, Hickman, Gardner, Crutchfield, and Bushyhead thoroughly checked nearby woods, creeks, and highways.

Specialized Support

We received tips from motorists on north Highway 169 about a n**e male walking along the side of the road.

Because individuals with autism can sometimes be drawn to water or specific environments, additional tracking and specialized units stepped in to assist the search near US-169:

• K9 Officer Johnson conducted a ground track near local waterways.

• Police 1 (TPD Helicopter) provided aerial support over creeks, industrial zones, and train tracks.

Safe Recovery

Officer Yanik used some super-cop intuition and wanted to check another area near the bus plant. It was down a private, locked road, where he found the 16-year-old. He was thirsty, muddy, and naked, but otherwise uninjured. We got him safely home to a thankful family.

Thank you to all the responding officers, specialized units, and alert citizens who helped bring this situation to a safe resolution.

If you find yourself in this situation, please call 911 or 918-596-9222 for assistance.
