Didn’t mean to go almost two months between updates! So sorry! We’ve been busy with weddings, birthday parties, kicking off summer break, and everything in between! Charlotte is growing and getting more personality by the day! We are still continuing all the therapies and all the things to make this girl thrive! I promise to do more posts this month! 🤍🌸

Charlotte turned •3• on Saturday! We truly are beyond blessed that we have made it to three years old!

3 years ago Charlotte had her first of what turned into many cardiac procedures. She has defied more odds than we can even fathom. We are so thankful for the donor family who has made her life possible! We look forward to everything she will accomplish this year!!

We had the BEST turn out on Saturday for her benefit car show/cruise in and we are beyond thankful for everyone who came out and supported such a little miracle! So many amazing sponsors donated items for raffles, A&M smokehouse served up the best food, nine fingers emcee kept the music going and everyone informed, and all the people who helped set up and break down! We are truly so blessed!

We had the best Easter weekend and Easter break with big sister! We are so ready to celebrate Charlotte turning 3! We hope everyone can come to the cruise in and celebrate her this Saturday!

We are just under a week until Charlotte’s benefit car show! This is always our biggest fundraiser that ensures we keep giving Charlotte the best life with everything she needs. We are currently battling insurance for her kid walk (a walker that she LOVES in therapy and would let her walk with the assistance she needs). We want one for her to use all the time so she can chase her sister and get to be up and mobile. Fingers crossed we can continue to dispute with insurance but this is just one of the many things we could just pay a cash price for to help Charlotte achieve her goals. Just under a month until this girl is THREE!!

It is so crazy to think back to the little baby who had to fight every single minute to stay here with us. She has defied so many odds and I know there’s so much more to come!

She truly is the happiest little girl and thrives in all her therapies!

Started off this Monday with some smiles and some speciality appointments! Our girl has officially been cleared from gastroenterology and is consistently staying on the growth chart!

Prayers as we will be doing the postponed CT on Wednesday this week now. We have a plan for Benadryl and the team will closely monitor her for a reaction. It’s always hard to hand her over to sedated but it is necessary for these procedures.

Just a little update since the post yesterday… there was a hiccup in communication regarding Charlotte’s contrast allergy and various teams could not come to an agreement of a plan so the scan was canceled. It will hopefully be rescheduled with all the proactive measures in place soon. This scan is important to assess a repair that had to happen just a few days after she received her transplant and to just get a baseline how that area is functioning. This scan can provide better details than an echo or cath can. Prayers there can be a plan developed soon!

It is also mommy’s birthday today, happy birthday to Courtney! 🎉

Fun Fact: Charlotte’s mom & dad are just one day apart in age and big sis, Caroline is also a February baby! Charlotte had to be born in April to have her own month! 🤪

Prayers today as Charlotte goes in for a CT of her heart. This is a planned scan not an emergency one, but as always it’s scary handing her over to be sedated. She has also had a severe reaction to the contrast but hopefully enough preventative measures are taken today.

It’s also her daddy’s birthday! So happy birthday to Blake!

So thankful for the donor whose family chose to give the ultimate gift to us. We pray and think of you often! Happy National Donor day!

Day 14: Grief and Gratitude

Happy Valentine’s Day. And Happy National Donor Day.

For most of the world, today is about chocolates and flowers. For transplant families, it’s much deeper.

We live in the “And”:
We feel immense gratitude for the life beating inside our child’s chest, AND we feel profound grief for the family who made it possible.

Today, we honor the donors who said “yes” in their darkest hour.

We promise to care for this gift.
We promise to live life fully in their honor.
And we promise to never forget that life is a shared miracle.
