Parents, It's ok to receive what you need to parent your child in the most healthy way. Where do you see your as a parent? For parents that may be struggling in their relationship with adult children, it's ok to acknowledge and validate that the way you parented had a negative impact on them WITHOUT(trying to explain it away) shame, blame or guilt. It allows space for healing and connection. To those adult children, it's ok to acknowledge that the way you were parented caused harm and learn new ways to (re)parent yourself and your children (present and future). To both, you matter so much and are worthy to be loved and have secure relationships with one another and others.

Your feelings are. They show up and it's ok to acknowledge them and allow them to be felt. It's ok not to rush through them and learn the healthiest response to them.

Attachment begins in infancy with our primary caregiver (typically mother). It informs how we show up and are able to create, maintain and sustain relationships. What some call "spoiled" is actually establishing a secure attachment with the baby. While recognizing too much of anything is unhealthy, failing to consistently meet a child's emotional needs is harmful. This is not to blame or shame parents (or caregivers). It is to bring awareness for everyone to recognize what may be hindering being in healthy relationships. Amazing news is, it can get better. Therapy is self-care. Therapy is self-preservation. Therapy is self-awareness. Therapy is self-love. Therapy is life. Be well.

Friendship breakups don’t always get the space they deserve… but the grief is real. ❤️‍🩹

This week, we’re holding space for the connections we’ve lost, the boundaries we’ve set, and the growth that came with both. 🫂💛

I love when ministry connects with mental wellness. You can have faith AND therapy.
