ABCDE of Melanoma
● A – Asymmetry. One half of the lesion does not match the other.
● B – Border irregularity. Melanomas often have scalloped, notched, or poorly defined borders.
● C – Color variegation. Presence of multiple shades (brown, black, red, white, blue) within the same lesion.
● D – Diameter. >6 mm Larger lesions are more concerning.
● E – Evolving / changing. Any change in size, shape, color, or new symptoms (itch, bleed, ulcerate).
