Occupational Therapy in a broad sense is not limited to a form of work or job, but places an emphasis on how one “occupies” their body and lives their life. The focus is on the quality of life which incorporates body, mind, and spirit, and how our daily experiences are considered and integrated to create a wholesome lifestyle. After many years of practicing pediatric therapy, Heidi found that structure always precedes function and there were many “missings” in the practice of rehabilitation and treatment. Heidi believes that we do not need to be in pain and suffering and can learn and harness the power within to heal. She sought the educational training to address the cause of symptoms and found the methods of osteopathy addressed relieving irritation off the brain and spine and in doing so, creates a more efficient communication between the brain and body via the central nervous system both autonomic and peripheral. Heidi has 34 years of professional experience and thousands of hours of training. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University. She has studied with and assisted seminars with some of the most innovative and well known osteopaths, MD’s, and therapists worldwide. She has refined and developed her skills with gentle, precise, intuitive touch. She utilizes the following techniques: Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, Articular Joint Approach, Craniosacral Therapy, myofascial Release, Mechanical Link, as well as Dr. Chickly’s brain and lymph drainage work.
