27 APRIL 2026 - Quick update - Ray is back resting at his care facility. The hospital was able to get his baclofen pump semi filled. Enough to overcome the side effects of not having any baclofen.

We see Ray’s nuerosurgeon this Thursday and are hoping they just redo this baclofen pump surgery again.

APRIL 24 2026 - The month of April started off very well for Ray but is ending up not so well.

Ray is unfortunately back in the hospital. He was admitted yesterday and is having issues with his Baclofen pump again. He was experiencing severe spasms and tightness in his legs. They are giving him meds that are now giving him relief and he is resting well. Rays mother Sherry is currently with Ray.

We will keep you updated.

This baclofen pump has been a nightmare for Ray since it was first installed three years ago. It has never worked properly and has been replaced once already.

Earlier in the month, Ray started to respond to his Botox injections in his hands. They are no longer stiff and beginning to open back up which is great news.

Ray is also starting to attend church again. Our church has Thursday night services which are a blessing since Ray can’t logistically be ready for church on Sunday mornings. Ray was also able to receive communion for the first time since his accident.

Rays birthday was the 22nd and we celebrated at his favorite restaurant Texas Roadhouse. Fortunately, he was fine during the day with initial spasms occurring later that night so he at least enjoyed his birthday!

24 MAR 2026 - It has been a while since the last update but unfortunately, Ray and I (Dad) have been taking turns staying in the hospital! Ray with his intestinal issues and myself with pneumonia/VATS surgery. Thankfully, we are both recovering well and almost back to 100%.

The Arctic Winter New Jersey experienced this year limited Ray going to any social activities. Now that the weather is slightly milder, Ray was able to enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day dinner with his brother Josh. Ray took a few sips of a Guinness to celebrate!

Ray was going through withdrawals not going to Texas Roadhouse (His favorite!) for over four months but he made up for it yesterday! He slammed a basket of bread and enjoyed a nice steak dinner.

Ray continues to respond well to all the doctor’s care plans. We still have several new specialists we will see in the upcoming weeks.

Ray said to say hi to everyone.

Ray has been following March Madness and he is looking forward to the Nebraska basketball game this Thursday.

1 FEB 2026. - After 11 days Ray is finally back at his care facility.

We wanted to thank all the amazing Doctors, Nurses and Aides at Morristown hospital that provided such compassionate care to Ray. He is feeling much better and has a new regime of meds to further help his condition.

27 JAN 2026 - Ray has had a busy month seeing his Nuerosurgeon, Spasticity, and GI doctors. They have all put together a game plan for Ray and we are already seeing the benefits of their procedures.

Unfortunately, Ray has another intestinal virus. He is currently in the hospital again and today is day 5 of his treatments. He is responding well and hopefully will be discharged in the next 48-72 hours.

To pass time Ray has been binge watching the tv show “LOST”. We are already on season two!

26 DEC 2025 - A belated Merry Christmas!

A delayed update due to both Ray and I have been battling the Flu Bug. Thankfully, we are both recovering.

Ray has had numerous Dr appointments in New Jersey since leaving NYC last month. We meet with his surgeons after the New Years and hopefully finalize a game plan for his future medical needs.

Ironically, Ray’s uncle John was in a different hospital the same time Ray was in the hospital. They are now both in the same rehab facility so they visit daily.

Unfortunately, I had a fender bender with Ray’s handicap van. Thankfully, Ray was not in the van. His van should be back on the road next week. We have several rain dates to make up with family and friends invitations once his van is repaired.

Some good news is that Ray has continued to steadily gain weight. He has put on over 15 pounds since arriving in New Jersey. Having more body mass is helping in his rehabilitation.

24 NOV 2025 - After spending three weeks in the hospital, Ray is finally in a rehab facility in New Jersey. During the past three weeks, he went through extensive medical testing and imaging.

Ray has several follow up appointments with medical specialists in both New York City and New Jersey. He will be very busy the next few months.

Ray would like to thank everyone at Weill Cornell Medical Hospital for all the amazing care he received the past three weeks.

Ray still has an amazing positive attitude. When Neurologists would daily question him on his name, what day is it , etc. When they would ask Ray where he was at, he would respond by saying “I’m lying on a beach in the Bahamas” or “ I’m on an inner tube floating down the river”! He became very creative with his responses!

Ray used “Door Dash Dad” and we did take out at every restaurant within five blocks of the hospital. Ray had a favorite Italian restaurant that we visited on a regular basis and Ray is actually up for”Customer of the month award” at this establishment!? The Italian diet paid off as Ray has gained around 5-6 pounds this month.

Ray has a long road ahead of him, but we are thankful that the medical specialists finally have a game plan for his future.

14 NOV 2025 - Sorry for this delayed update, but there has been a lot going on with Ray the last two weeks. We are actually still at Weill Cornell Hospital in New York City.

Ray has seen numerous specialists the last two weeks. There has been some good news with regards to his future medical care, but unfortunately, there is more bad news than good news.

Some of the medical procedures suggested would be drastic irreversible surgeries on his lower extremities. Basically all the options offered are very intense surgeries that may not reverse the damage that has already occurred to his lower extremities.

Obviously, it was not the news that we wanted to hear, but there are other options that we are pursuing before a final decision is made on some very intense surgeries.

After numerous medical consultations with Ray he is still very optimistic about his future. He never ever complains about his condition and he is a man I aspire to be….

What is most heartbreaking is that all of Rays issues were caused by a paramedic that didn’t know what he was doing and basically killed Ray causing his current medical status. I pray that Ray’s court decision is overturned so he can get the support he needs for his future medical needs.

7 NOV 2025 - It has been an extremely busy week for Ray. We have met with at least a dozen doctors that are putting together a care plan for Rays future medical needs. Numerous X Rays, physical exams, blood work and MRI's.

Ray said he feels like a celebrity with all the attention he is receiving! We are overwhelmed by the amazing care and all the compassion from everyone that attends to Ray.

i think the best solution for Ray's weight loss is having him in the NYC area. We joke that the nutritionists put Ray on an "Italian Diet" and gave us the menus to all the Italian restaurants within five blocks of the hospital! Ray loves Italian food and New York pizza so.... Ray has hit three of the pizza establishments so far - and counting!

Ray is currently at Weill Cornell hospital in NYC which is attached to several other hospitals. When Ray heard the news that Dylan Raiola was in New York for surgery, he was hoping he was in his hospital! Our thoughts and prayers are with Dylan for a speedy recovery.

Once Ray's hospital stay is over, we will be transferring him to a Rehab facility in New Jersey. We will continue his primary care at Weill Cornell.

3 NOV 2025 - A long update but necessary….

For all of you that have been following Ray’s story the past few months will know that his health has been in decline for some time. The biggest concern has been his major loss of weight the past year. Over 100 pounds lost. Other issues have been that the second baclofen pump is not working correctly. Ray also has other health issues that we had been addressing in Omaha, but unfortunately, over the course of the past few months, three of Raymond‘s doctors have basically said there is nothing else they can do for Ray.

With that being said, a major decision was made to get Ray the expert medical care that he desperately needs at this time.

This past Saturday, we transferred Ray from Omaha to Weill Cornell hospital in New York City. Ray described it as an “Epic Road Trip”!

Since his arrival at the hospital it has been non stop evaluations and exams. Ray said he has seen more medical specialists the past 24 hours than the past two years!

Ray is currently being admitted for medical evaluations and possible surgeries. Weill Cornell is one of the best Neurological hospitals in the country if not the world and all the specialists we have met so far confirms that statement.

Obviously, Ray is beyond excited to be getting the medical care he so desperately needs.

21 SEPT 2025 - Before the game yesterday, Ray and I visited several tailgating parties, handing out cards with his photo and a QR link to his page. I want to thank all the Nebraska fans who stopped to talk with us and show their support for Ray, it meant the world!

We also had the pleasure of sitting beside some Michigan fans for the whole game. They were truly amazing, and we had a great time together. After the game, we joked that since they were deep in Husker territory, we’d better give them a Nebraska shirt so they could leave safely! We all had a great laugh, and enjoyed the kind of sportsmanship only college football can bring.
