These keys used to belong to an empty room. A lot of weekends went into getting it ready, painting, moving furniture, figuring out where everything belonged.

It wasn't always easy, but it was worth it.

This is the new Haven Point office, right here in Colorado Springs, and I'd love for you to see it in person. You can find me and book a session at thehavenpoint.com. 🔑

Watching this space come together has been the best part of the last few weeks. Not quite finished, but close, and it's shaping up to be exactly what I hoped for.

Understanding where a pattern came from doesn't mean you're doomed to repeat it.

It means you're in a position almost nobody else in your family has been in, aware of the pattern, and able to choose differently in the moment it shows up.

That doesn't require doing it perfectly. It just requires noticing, and choosing something else even some of the time.

If you're working to parent differently than you were parented, I'd be glad to support that work.

There's a real difference between a life that's working and a life that's actually yours.

A lot of the people I work with are excellent at managing their schedule, their responsibilities, and everyone else's needs. What's missing usually isn't more discipline. It's permission to want something and go toward it, instead of just keeping everything upright.

If that's resonating, that feeling of doing fine on paper but feeling like a bystander in your own life, I'd love to talk with you.

If your worth got tied to being the reliable one somewhere along the way, the one who handles it, who doesn't need anything, who shows up no matter what it costs you, I want to offer you something.

Being needed isn't the same as being loved. And you're allowed to need things too.

This is a pattern I see often, and it's one of the most rewarding things to work through in therapy, because underneath it there's usually someone who's been holding a lot alone for a long time.

Self-sabotage almost never looks dramatic. It looks like "I'll do it next month." It looks like staying busy with everything except the thing that matters most.

For a lot of the entrepreneurs I work with, the block isn't fear of failing. It's fear of what happens if it actually works, more eyes on them, more to lose, more of being seen.

If you've built something and keep finding ways to almost finish it, that pattern is worth understanding, not just pushing through.

You can know exactly why you do the thing, and still do the thing.

If you've done the reading, the podcasts, maybe even years of therapy, and you still feel stuck in the same loop, you're not failing at insight. Insight was never going to be enough on its own.

What actually shifts things is different, and it's what I focus on with the high-achieving, self-aware people I work with.

If this sounds familiar, let's talk.

Were you the responsible one? The old soul? The easy kid who never asked for much?
If those were your childhood labels, you may have learned early that needing less kept the peace. They weren’t compliments, they were survival skills. That child did an incredible job protecting you, and as an adult, you get to learn what they never could: you were never too much. You were never a burden.

"Just cheer up" has never worked, and here’s why.
The problem was never effort; it’s that everything feels far away. The people you love. The things that used to matter. Yourself. Therapy doesn’t hand you happiness; it helps you close the distance, one small step back toward your life.
