Today, we're saying farewell to someone who has been a cornerstone of Westfield Plastic Surgery Center. Sandy Leonard is retiring, and we couldn't let her go without recognizing just how much she's meant to this practice!

Rhinoplasty has been performed for decades and, with the right plastic surgeon, the results can be life-changing! There are two techniques for rhinoplasty:

Open: The entire nasal structure is visible by making a vertical incision on the underside of the columella (tip of the nose). This gives your plastic surgeon a more accurate view as well as more access to certain aspects of the nose that you want to change. There will be a small scar after the incision has healed. Dr. Ayoub prefers open rhinoplasty because it provides him with an overview of the nasal structure. In cases where bone and cartilage need to be reshaped, Dr. Ayoub has a clearer picture.

Closed: A newer approach to rhinoplasty with limited ability to alter the structure of the nose. The only benefit is that there will be no visible scarring.
