I had a mama find me recently the same way a lot of mamas do -- a friend told her to just go text McKenzie and she would feel better.

Nip Tip Tuesday!

If you are pumping and not getting much, before you panic about your supply, check your fl**ge size.

A fl**ge that is too large or too small does not just cause discomfort. It directly affects how well your pump can remove milk, which over time affects your supply.

Signs your fl**ge size might be off:

-Ni**le pain or soreness after pumping
-Redness or blanching on the ni**le
-Your ar**la is being pulled into the tunnel
-Output feels low even when your breasts feel full

Fl**ge fitting is one of the first things I check at a home visit, and it is one of the most commonly overlooked pieces of the pumping puzzle.

Most mamas had no idea this was even an option.

I get some version of this almost every week: "I didn't know you came to my house." Or "I assumed insurance would never cover something like this."

Here is what I want every mama in Omaha to know:

I come to you. Your couch, your bed, your favorite chair. No packing up the baby. No timing a feed around a drive. No waiting room.

Nip Tip Tuesday!

Triple feeding. If you are doing it right now, you already know. If you have never heard of it, here is the breakdown:

Triple feeding = nurse, then pump, then feed pumped milk by bottle. Every single feed. Around the clock.

It is exhausting. It is unsustainable long-term. And a lot of mamas feel like there is no way out.

Here is the truth: triple feeding is usually a bridge, not a destination. The goal is always to get to a place where nursing alone is enough.

How we get there:

-Improving latch so baby can remove milk more effectively
-Weighted feeds to track actual milk transfer
-Gradual reduction of pump sessions as nursing improves
-Sometimes addressing tongue or lip tie with a referral

I have some exciting news to share.

Mollie, my intern, has just completed her 500 clinical hours!! Wahoo!!

She will sit for her IBCLC exam this fall.

I have watched Mollie grow into an incredibly skilled, compassionate lactation professional. The mamas she has worked alongside this year are lucky. And so am I.

This practice is growing. More hours. More families. More support for the Omaha community.

We do not talk enough about the ni**le shield win.

I had a mama recently whose baby was not latching or removing milk without a ni**le shield. Not at all. Every feed was a struggle, and she was starting to wonder if breastfeeding was even going to work for them.

We got the shield on. Baby latched. Milk transferred. Mama exhaled for the first time in days.

Is the ni**le shield the permanent plan? No. We will work on weaning from it when baby is ready and stronger. But right now? It is the tool that is getting this family over the newborn hump. And that is a win.

Sometimes the win is not the perfect latch on the first try. Sometimes the win is finding the thing that works today so you can keep going until tomorrow.

Wednesdays are my admin days and make for a slower start midweek. But I gotta tell ya. There is NOTHING slowing down at TenderTouch.

This month has been full of families graduating from lactation care, new families coming in, and one of my favorite things...families coming back with subsequent children.

I cannot believe how fast time is going to see families who were some of my first patients after starting TenderTouch, come back with baby number 2, 3, etc.

It is the biggest compliment to be on the receiving end of your trust and I am so thankful.

TenderTouch is growing RAPIDLY and I have all of you to thank. There are so many exciting things in the works for the last half of the year and I can't wait to share them with you!
