Our leadership team and members of our Board of Directors came together to share ideas, identify opportunities, and begin shaping a strategic plan that will help guide ACHIEVE into the future.

📍 County Spotlight: Broome County

As we continue our County Spotlight series, we're highlighting one of the many meaningful ways ACHIEVE makes a difference in our Broome County community.

We’re proud to share that ACHIEVE's Broome Day Habilitation was recently recognized for its outstanding commitment to supporting individuals along the Binghamton meal delivery route. Each Tuesday, a dedicated team of staff and program participants delivers meals throughout Binghamton's South Side, helping ensure community members receive not only reliable nutrition but also meaningful social connection.

💙 This partnership goes beyond meal delivery. When Meals on Wheels has faced staffing shortages, Broome Day Habilitation has consistently stepped up to lend a hand. Over time, these weekly visits have fostered meaningful relationships and lasting friendships between program participants and the individuals they serve, demonstrating the power of community connection and caring for our neighbors.

✨ This collaboration also provides valuable opportunities for ACHIEVE participants to build vocational, communication, and interpersonal skills while making a real difference in the lives of others. Through their involvement, individuals strengthen their independence, develop confidence, and experience the pride and purpose that come from giving back to their community.

We're incredibly proud of our Broome Day Habilitation staff and participants for their compassion, dedication, and commitment to service. Their work is a wonderful example of how community partnerships create opportunities for personal growth, meaningful relationships, and a stronger, more inclusive community for everyone.

📍County Spotlight: Cortland County

As we continue our County Spotlight series, we're highlighting one of the many great services Cortland County offers: Camp ARCO.

We asked our Habilitation Services Manager, Matthew Burkhard, to share a glimpse into the program:

“Camp ARCO is a great program for the kids in Cortland County. They can attend a camp of their choice and spend an entire week with a 1-on-1 staff member. This allows kids who may not be able to go to a camp on their own to attend and be alongside the other campers. Each year we see progress from where kids may not make it an entire day to making it the entire day. We also see kids who may have needed staff with them eventually being able to attend on their own. We had a child who required staff assistance to go with us one week and then attend a 2nd week on her own. We also had a child who didn't make it whole days last year make it every day all day the week he went this year. We also have a child in a wheelchair who had trouble attending camp in the past, the camp got electric track chairs a few years ago, and he has loved going and using the chair, each year he learns a bit more how to control it on his own.”

✨ Camp ARCO is not only an exciting summer camp experience, but also an opportunity for inclusion, growth, and child development. Through meaningful experiences, children build confidence, develop independence, strengthen social skills, and create lasting memories alongside their peers. Camp ARCO helps ensure that every child has the chance to experience the joys of summer camp.

We are so lucky to have the dedicated staff in Cortland County whose compassion, commitment, and encouragement have made Camp ARCO a successful program for many years. 💙

📍 County Spotlight: Tioga County!

We believe that our people and programs are what truly make ACHIEVE special, and today, we're shining a spotlight on one of Tioga County's incredible programs: Day Hab Without Walls! 💙

Day Hab Without Walls is a type of day habilitation service where programming takes place throughout the community. The goal is to help the people we support build independence and confidence through meaningful, real-world experiences.

Through this program, participants have opportunities to:
🌟 Practice everyday skills in real-world settings
🌟 Participate in their community by visiting stores, libraries, parks, and local attractions
🌟 Build social skills and meaningful relationships with peers, staff, and community members
🌟 Volunteer and explore vocational interests while gaining valuable experiences
🌟 Practice practical skills such as navigating transportation, communication, shopping, and other daily-living activities
🌟 Take part in activities based on their individual interests, abilities, and goals through person-centered planning

Tioga County's Day Hab Without Walls program has been incredibly successful, and it's wonderful to see how much participants enjoy exploring, learning, and experiencing their community together! 🚌🌳🛍️

🌟 Celebrating the Power of Self-Advocacy! 🌟

Earlier this week, members of ACHIEVE’s Self-Advocacy Committee had the opportunity to attend the 2nd Annual Southern Tier Spokesmen Conference! 💙

It was an incredible day filled with community, connection, self-expression, and, most importantly, self-advocacy.

One of the most powerful moments was watching our committee members step up to the microphone and share their own stories. They spoke openly about challenges they have faced, the growth that came from those experiences, and their journeys toward greater independence and finding their voices. 🗣️✨

Sharing your story isn’t always easy. It takes courage to stand in front of others and speak honestly about your experiences. We are incredibly proud of our self-advocates for using their voices, supporting one another, and showing just how powerful self-advocacy can be!

Here’s to continuing to speak up, support one another, and make our voices heard! 💪💙

📍 County Spotlight: Tioga County!

This week, we’re continuing our County Spotlight series with Tioga County! 💙

Through ACHIEVE Programs, we provide services to more than 70 people across Tioga County, offering support that reaches every part of life—from home and employment to volunteering, recreation, friendships, and community involvement.

🏡 Our residential home in Tioga County provides a safe and welcoming place where people can explore independence, build lasting friendships, and experience all that their community has to offer. With the support of dedicated staff, the people we support are empowered to pursue their personal goals, make everyday choices, and truly flourish in a place they can call home.

🤝 Our programs also create meaningful opportunities to connect with the community through Day Hab Without Walls, Recreation Respite, and Community Habilitation, while programs such as Community Pre-Voc and Supported Employment help individuals develop skills and pursue their employment goals.

Tioga County is filled with opportunities to live, work, connect, and thrive, and we’re proud to be part of a community that values inclusion, growth, and meaningful opportunities for all. 💙

Our official Unification date of September 1 may have passed, but the excitement of coming together continues! 💙

Yesterday, our Envisions Day Hab in Norwich visited our Main Street Day Hab in Oneida for a day full of fun and connecting with friends. They enjoyed an exciting game of bingo with prizes to be won and even turned the lights out for a glowing dance party! 🎉

As always, thank you to the staff who made this meet-up possible. Moments like these are helping strengthen relationships across our newly unified organization and show what is possible when we come together as one team. ✨

📍County Spotlight: Madison County

Today, we're excited to kick off our County Spotlight series with Madison County!

Madison County is home to over 800 of the people we support and their families. Across the county, ACHIEVE offers a wide range of services, including our Winoa Hall Activity Center, Senior, and Main Street Day Habilitation Programs, as well as vocational and respite services.

ACHIEVE is also proud to operate eight residential homes throughout Madison County. They are places where people build lasting friendships, develop new skills, and create meaningful connections within their communities. With the support of dedicated staff, people are empowered to pursue their personal goals, make everyday choices, and flourish in a place they can truly call home.

Beyond these programs, ACHIEVE's Article 16 Clinic serves 985 people across Madison County and the surrounding region, providing resources to both the people we support and the broader community.

From Oneida and Canastota to Chittenango and beyond, Madison County offers countless opportunities for the people we support to live, work, connect, and thrive. We are proud to be part of a community that values inclusion, growth, and meaningful opportunities for all.
