EYE ACCIDENTS

July 1, 2026

’anse Michigan (PHOTO)

I went to

(Doctor of Opthalmology)

I had been scratched badly in the eye by a tree branch…here in , Michigan…

The internet said that if your eye is damaged by a plant, a FUNGAL INFECTION could cause COMPLETE loss of vision.

It was extremely painful.
It watered profusely.
I was unable to see well.
Sunlight made it worse.

It caused a dangerous situation driving one hour to the clinic.

Alternative means of getting there are not available to me at this time. (The OnTran Village Transport does not travel to L’anse/the SONCO AMBULANCE is available but we had a huge storm and I didn’t want to tie them up with my minor emergency)

I treated myself by using COCONUT OIL swished in my mouth to deliver a natural ANTIBIOTIC to my eye area.

Dr. Gunnard assured me it was okay as there was NO GREEN MUCUS showing on the cornea.

I found out that SALINE SOLUTION for sinus infections should not be used to rinse the possibly infected eye. TAP WATER should also not be used.
I did do a NASAL FLUSH with my new NETI POT to help clear dust/debris from that area and allow my immune system to work on healing the eye.

I declined a numbing agent medication and received a free box of SALINE SOLUTION to have for emergencies, and a FREE SAMPLE pair of sunglasses.

I walked around the waterfront of , and picked up trash/glass/cans/cigarette butts for several hours to keep my eyes downward & hands/arms from rubbing my eyes further and worsening it, cooled/washed my hands in , talked to several locals about their storm damage from a week ago and the temporary closure of the beachfront from SEWER/WATER OVERFLOW, found my way around to several businesses ( Store) and recovered.

By the time I made it to Houghton () I had NO PAIN and was able to see again clearly after 2 days of extreme hardship.

Made it back to Ontonagon by midnight or so.

I left at 9:00 am, after waking at 6am.

Love to all humans.

QUESTION:

Ontonagon, Michigan

How could i survive in the UPPER PENINSULA OF MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in a house with no heat during the winter?

_________________________________________
ANSWER:

Google AI:

Surviving a winter in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan in an unheated house is an extreme challenge, but it is achievable by trapping your body heat, modifying your living space, and strictly protecting your physical health.

Temperatures in Yooper country regularly plunge well below 0°F (-18°C), requiring immediate and strategic action to stave off severe hypothermia.

Watch these practical tips to learn how to prepare your home and stay safe indoors during a freezing power outage or heating failure:

🛖 Create a Internal Microclimate
Do not try to warm the entire house; isolate yourself in a single, small, centralized room to trap ambient heat.

* Pick an interior room: Choose a small room with minimal exterior walls and windows, ideally on an upper floor since heat rises.

* Pitch an indoor tent: Set up a small camping tent or build a tight blanket fort directly on top of a mattress or couch cushions.

* Isolate your sleeping space: Stuff the tent or fort with extra blankets, clothing, or sleeping bags rated for sub-zero temperatures to create "dead air space" that retains your body heat.

* Seal the gaps: Block drafts by rolling up towels or blankets and stuffing them tightly under door frames and across leaky window sills.

* Cover the glass: Hang heavy quilts, blankets, or clear plastic sheeting over windows to keep the cold glass from draining the room's temperature.

🧥 Master the Art of Layering
Your body is your primary furnace; keeping it dry and insulated is vital to survival.

* Strictly avoid cotton: Cotton absorbs sweat, stays damp, and rapidly accelerates hypothermia.

* Wear a base layer: Use tight, moisture-wicking thermal long underwear made of synthetic materials or merino wool.

* Add insulating mid-layers: Wear thick wool sweaters, fleece hoodies, or flannel-lined pants to capture air.

* Finish with a shell: Wear a heavy, windproof winter jacket or insulated coat over your clothing layers.

* Protect your extremities: Keep a wool beanie, heavy socks, and thermal mittens on at all times, even while sleeping.

🍲 Fuel Your Body Internal Heat
Digestion generates metabolic heat, making your food choices an active line of defense.

* Eat high-calorie foods: Consume high-fat, high-protein items like peanut butter, nuts, cheese, and canned meats to keep your metabolism revved up.

* Drink warm liquids: Keep hot water or herbal tea stored in a high-quality thermos to sip on throughout the day.

* Never drink alcohol: While it may give a temporary feeling of warmth, alcohol dilates blood vessels and actually lowers your core body temperature.

* Move deliberately: Do light indoor exercises like jumping jacks or pacing to stimulate circulation, but stop immediately if you begin to sweat. [1, 2]

⚠️ Indoor Safety & Winterization
Improper heating and freezing water lines present severe secondary structural and safety risks.

* Prevent carbon monoxide: Never burn charcoal, use outdoor propane camp stoves, or use gas ovens indoors for heat.

* Drain your plumbing: To prevent burst pipes, shut off the main water line and completely drain all faucets, toilets, and the water heater. Put non-toxic RV antifreeze into toilet bowls and sink traps.
