Measurement ≠ Fit. 📏 Proper fl**ge sizing is about how your tissue behaves under vacuum, not just a number on a ruler. If pumping hurts or your supply is dipping, let’s find your true fit. ✨

Seeing Baby engage so curiously reminds us that feeding is a whole-body experience.

Lactation Care at Chattanooga Lactation 🤍
This week we supported 12 new postpartum families, 4 prenatal visits, 3 tongue-tie care plans, and many follow-ups focused on low milk supply and sustainable feeding management. We love helping families move beyond survival mode. Triple feeding isn’t a long-term solution, and cookies, brownies, and drinks alone don’t fix supply; individualized care does. If feeding feels overwhelming or supply is a concern, reaching out to an IBCLC early can make all the difference.

✨ Serving families with prenatal prep, postpartum support, oral function care, and realistic feeding plans that work long term.

A Week of Growth, Healing, and Connection at Chattanooga Lactation! ✨

What a whirlwind of a week! From prenatal prep to post-op recovery, our hearts (and schedules!) have been full. Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to:

🤰 Prenatal Empowerment
We spent time with several families this week preparing for their upcoming arrivals. This included working with previous clients to build proactive care plans for low milk supply and helping a "twin mom-to-be" feel confident and ready to tandem breastfeed! 👯‍♀️

🩹 Healing & Comfort
We supported several mothers dealing with significant ni**le wounds. There is nothing better than getting that follow-up text saying, "We are doing so much better and healing well!" Comfort is key, and we love providing the wound care management and best practices to get you there.

đź‘… Post-Op Tongue Tie Support
It was a busy week for our "tiny tongues!" We saw several babies for their 3–5 day post-op follow-ups after frenectomies.

The Reality: Every baby heals differently! Some show immediate improvement, while others need 4–6 weeks of oral exercises and tongue toning to reach full function.

The Goal: Consistent lactation support during this window is vital to ensure long-term success.

🎓 Always Learning
Ashley and Audrey headed down to Dalton for a breastfeeding conference! We dove deep into:

Supporting low milk supply and PCOS.

Specific dietary needs for breastfeeding success.

New clinical strategies to better serve our community.

🔍 Clinical Corner
We also provided hands-on support for fl**ge fitting, perfecting latches, and preventing ni**le pain. Details matter!

We had a wonderful week serving the families of Ooltewah, Chattanooga, and beyond. We are rested, inspired, and can’t wait to see you this week!

What We Saw This Week in Lactation Care 🤍

• Prenatal visits — Setting expectations, reviewing breast anatomy, and creating a feeding plan before baby arrives can make those first days feel less overwhelming and more supported.

• Milk supply changes around 9 months — We supported a family navigating a dip in supply and new nursing challenges as baby grows and feeding patterns shift.

• Monitoring supply after a previous low-supply/possible IGT experience — Our prenatal client delivered and we’re closely watching milk supply with her second baby, offering early guidance and reassurance.

• Virtual visits — Weather and illness didn’t stop support. We answered questions, observed feedings, and helped moms troubleshoot from home.

• Low milk supply support — Creating realistic, sustainable feeding plans based on your personal goals, not pressure or one-size-fits-all advice.

• Early newborn support (3–8 days old) — These early days are critical for milk supply and confidence, and early help can make a big difference.

Every week looks different because every family is different—and that’s exactly how lactation care should be.

This Week in Lactation Care 🤍

This week we supported families with:
• Oversupply management — reducing breast inflammation and recurrent clogs
• Recurrent mastitis/clogged ducts — reassessment by an IBCLC when symptoms didn’t improve with antibiotics; imaging confirmed two benign cysts
• Back to breast support — tongue tie released, and after 5 visits baby is now breastfeeding 100% at the breast (no pumping or bottles!)
• Breast abscess recovery — ongoing care through healing, slow weight gain support, and gradual weaning off supplements once baby was thriving

Every situation is different, and sometimes it takes looking a little deeper to find the right path forward. Lactation care isn’t just about feeding—it’s about problem-solving, healing, and long-term support for both parent and baby.

This is why we do what we do. Breastfeeding isn’t meant to be done alone, and having the right support can change everything. So grateful for families who trust Ashley, Audrey, and Autumn with their journey 🤍
