👀🤢Gross things your acupuncturist actually DOES care about.
The difference? These are gross but they give us clinically useful information.
💩 Your p**p: Color, consistency, smell, mucus, undigested food, floating/sticky stool, constipation vs. diarrhea, frequency. All of it tells me whether your digestive system is running sluggish, irritated, dry, or overwhelmed. Your gut also plays a role in hormone metabolism and elimination.
👅 Your tongue coating: Thick, greasy, yellow, white, peeled, patchy, dry, wet... this is one of those things patients think looks disgusting while I’m thinking, “ooo, interesting! This explains a lot.”
👣 Your funky feet: Yes, I notice. And I care. In Chinese medicine, several important pathways begin or travel through the feet. Really sweaty, smelly feet can point to excess heat and moisture in the body. It’s not a diagnosis on its own, but it’s another clue.
🦶 Your not-so-cute toenails: Thick, yellow, crumbly, lifting, discolored nails aren’t just cosmetic. They can suggest fungal infection or other nail issues, and foot wounds or slow-healing lesions matter a lot in patients with diabetes or impaired circulation.
So yes, I care about the gross stuff. In Chinese medicine, the little things your body does can be clues to what’s happening internally. Nothing exists in isolation, and sometimes the weirdest details tell me the most.

After four years without a menstrual cycle, my patient got her period less than 3 months after beginning fertility acupuncture treatment.

When someone has been without a menstrual cycle for this long, there can be many underlying factors involved. Our treatment has been individualized to her specific presentation, with acupuncture focused on supporting her overall health and menstrual cycle regulation.

Every patient is different, and while outcomes can vary, seeing progress like this is exactly why I love what I do.

The first period is just the beginning. Now we continue working toward more consistent, healthy cycles.

Since we’ve welcomed quite a number of new patients and followers, we just wanted to share this little reminder for what to avoid consuming before acupuncture treatments to make your experience as painless and relaxing as possible.

While acupuncture needles are thin enough not to cause any discomfort, drinking an energy drink before coming to your appointment is a sure-fire way to *really* feel the needles going in 😳 (true story!)

A mini breakdown for anyone who’s been aghast after hearing how long they need to be treated for 😮‍💨 it’s not easy, but staying consistent is KEY when getting treatment!

While everyone’s fertility journey is different, we’ve had a lot of success when our patients actually stuck to their treatment plan and came in as frequently as we suggested.
