Somewhere along the way someone decided that normal toddler behavior is a problem that needs solving.
It’s not. It’s just a two year old being a two year old.
And don’t get me wrong, I regularly get FRUSTRATED. And to pile on top of that, I feel like every time my kid is on my last nerve, the algorithm feeds my stress by offering me “solutions”. It’s dysregulation. A sleep issue. A gut issue. A sensory thing. Internet “experts” want so bad to hand out diagnosis so they can sell you the cure.
And look, real issues like that exist. If something feels off, talk to your pediatrician, don’t go to Dr. Google. But most of the time? The thing you’re panicking about is just development doing exactly what it’s supposed to do, on a timeline that is deeply inconvenient for you personally.
Toddlers are irrational because their brains are not finished (not even close, actually).
Also, gentle parenting does not mean your toddler stops melting down over the banana. It means you don’t melt down with them. Those are different things and it really bugs me that everyone keeps mixing them up. 😅
What toddler behavior really grinds your gears?
