Devata Wellness – Ayurvedic Consulting is pleased to invite you to the grand opening of the Quad Cities' first Ayurvedic educational wellness center.

Join us on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the pHat Bottom Labs Quad Cities location, located at 824 15th Avenue, East Moline, IL 61244, for an evening of networking, wellness education, and community connection.

As part of this special event, attendees will enjoy an informative presentation introducing Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest systems of natural medicine, and learn how its principles can complement today's healthcare approaches. We will discuss our unique vision of bridging the gap between Western Herbalism and Traditional Eastern Herbalism while supporting collaboration with modern allopathic medicine.

Whether you are seeking natural wellness solutions, are curious about herbal medicine, work within the healthcare field, or simply want to learn more about holistic approaches to health, this event is designed to provide valuable insight and meaningful conversation.

During the presentation, guests will learn:

• What Ayurveda is and how it supports individualized wellness
• The similarities and differences between Western and Eastern herbal traditions
• How integrative approaches can support overall health and wellbeing
• Services available through Devata Wellness – Ayurvedic Consulting
• Opportunities for future educational workshops, consultations, and community programs

This event also offers a wonderful opportunity to meet local professionals, wellness advocates, and community members interested in expanding access to integrative healthcare throughout the Quad Cities.

Light refreshments will be available.

We welcome you to be part of this exciting milestone as we introduce a new resource dedicated to education, prevention, and whole-person wellness in our community.

I feel this is something that should go without saying however with all of the new herbalists and AI generated content it seems worthy of repeating:

IN THE HERBAL WORLD, DEFINING THE BOUNDARIES IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS DEFINING THE CRAFT. A REAL HERBALIST ISN’T JUST “SOMEONE WHO KNOWS PLANTS.” THERE’S A DISCIPLINE, AN ETHIC, AND A LANE. AND THERE ARE THINGS A HERBALIST SHOULD NEVER PRETEND TO BE.

🌿 WHAT A HERBALIST IS

These are the pillars — the things that define the craft.

A student of plants for life — always learning, observing, testing, refining, and staying humble.

A pattern‑recognizer — someone who watches symptoms, constitution, environment, and lifestyle as a whole picture.

A supporter of the body’s natural processes — not a symptom‑smasher, but a system‑balancer.

A researcher — someone who checks interactions, safety, dosage, and preparation methods.

A historian — carrying forward traditional knowledge while grounding it in modern understanding.

A formulator — someone who knows how to prepare herbs correctly: tinctures, teas, oils, salves, poultices, syrups, etc.

A teacher — helping people understand their bodies, their herbs, and their options.

A collaborator — someone who knows when to refer out, when something is beyond herbal scope, and when a doctor is needed.

A steward of the land — harvesting ethically, sustainably, and with respect for the ecosystems.

A protector of people’s safety — never guessing, never assuming, never treating blindly.

🚫 WHAT A HERBALIST IS NOT

This is the part most people skip — but it’s the part that protects people from harm and protects the reputation of herbalists.

Not a doctor — we don’t diagnose diseases, prescribe treatments, or replace medical testing.

Not a cardiologist, endocrinologist, neurologist, or any other specialist — knowing herbs doesn’t equal medical specialization.

Not a miracle worker — herbs support the body; they don’t override biology, lifestyle, or serious pathology.

Not a pharmacist — we don’t manage prescription medications or adjust dosages.

Not a psychic — we can’t guess someone’s condition without information.

Not a “pill replacer” — herbs aren’t just natural versions of pharmaceuticals; they work differently and require context.

Not a substitute for emergency care — heart attack, stroke, severe infection, trauma, poisoning, anaphylaxis — these are medical emergencies.

Not a guru — we don’t promise cures, sell false hope, or claim supernatural insight.

Not a one‑size‑fits‑all advisor — what works for one person may be wrong for another.

Not a shortcut — herbs require time, consistency, and lifestyle alignment.

Not someone who throws herbs at symptoms — that’s how people get hurt.

A herbalist is someone who studies plants, supports the body’s natural processes, researches safety, teaches, and collaborates responsibly. Just as importantly, a herbalist is not a doctor, not a diagnostician, not a miracle worker, and not someone who blindly throws herbs at symptoms. A real herbalist respects the limits of the craft, seeks proper information, and knows when a situation requires medical evaluation before herbal support.
