Y’all really made this one special 🌿

Our second Herb Swap was filled with so much intention, generosity, and shared knowledge. From swapping herbs and meaningful items to diving into our first Herb Talk on Materia Medica monographs… this is exactly the kind of space I dreamed of creating.

Huge thank you to everyone who contributed. Whether you brought herbs, shared your knowledge, or simply showed up open and curious. Special appreciation to the beautiful community offerings that made this gathering even more memorable 🤎

Make Shrek pee… I mean Scrap Tea with me!

When making loose leaf herbal tea blends, I use specific ratios of each herb to get the desired blend.

Sometimes there’s enough to pack left overs (1oz +), other times it’s not enough to justify the effort. Those scraps go in the jar!

This one happened to turn out green. I’ll wind up utilizing old herbs in my inventory for teas, tinctures, or some other type of infusion. No product goes to waste in this trap house.

Meet Scratch. Certified lizard hunter and garden assistant.

As some of you know, I recently moved and had to leave behind the beautiful ecosystem I cultivated in my old yard, which brought me a lot of sadness.

The transition here has been challenging. The soil isn’t as healthy, and there’s an imbalance of shade and sunlight. This growing season has tested me.

My garden is my sanctuary, and plants are my therapy. I’m used to facing gardening challenges with grace, but the grief of leaving my old space and starting anew has been tough. Especially since I lost a few longtime plants in the process. One being my 2 year old elderberry tree which I had grown from a cutting. It didn’t survive being moved to a new space after blossoming its most beautiful and abundant elderflowers.

You might notice some familiar “weeds” where Scratch is sitting in the picture. Lately, Bidens alba has been popping up around the yard. What some see as a nuisance, I see as a victory. This yard was severely neglected before I moved in, but now I’m seeing life! Grass is growing, and pollinators are visiting consistently. What was once mostly sandy soil is now beginning to thrive, and I’m starting to feel more connected to my new space.

If you’re experiencing too, give yourself grace and time to reconnect 🌿. Both you and your garden are resilient. You’ll always bounce back.
